Well, it is ” a week of green-themed programming aimed at entertaining, informing and empowering Americans to lead greener lives.” The “Green Programming” includes anything from green-themed show plotlines, green tips from the actors, and even reality shows giving away eco-friendly vehicles [...]

Have you set your clocks back for Daylight Savings Time yet?
I’m sure you all say daylight savings time, but did you know that is wrong? Horribly wrong, I might add.
The official spelling is Daylight Saving Time, not Daylight SavingS Time.
Saving is used here as a verbal adjective (a participle). It modifies time and tells us [...]

In 2007 alone, there are expected to be 178,480 new cases of invasive breast cancer diagnosed. Of these, 40,460 women will die. Although these facts are to women only, don’t think you men aren’t at risk too. Also in 2007, 2,030 men will be [...]

Writer Mama is having a contest with give aways every single day for the entire month of September. Although I suppose it’s more for moms and dads, of which we have very few at YWS, Writer Mama does say anybody can enter. So check it out!
Currently, Firestarter is running an official site contest to get the Knowledge Base filled up. If you contribute a few articles, you could very well walk away with a YWS notebook. Check out the contest thread for details.
Unfortunately, people haven’t been paying the contest much attention. Part of the problem I think [...]

I have a very important announcement to make. Tonight, Jack will be going to his first Major League Baseball game. Unfortunately, it’s A’s, not Giants, but there’s only so much we can do spur-of-the-moment.
That is all.
(oh, and I’m back from camp! And move up to school in three days!)

Look for ‘young writers’ on Google and the first page mostly shows sites that are either defunct, or are as useful as an English teacher who thinks she’s a poet but rhymes ‘Texas’ with ‘fact is.’ Even on Writers Digest Top 101 Sites For Writers, you’ll only find two sites that are meant for young [...]
It is visible to everyone that there are a lot of people coming in from TW. It could even be called an invasion. So should we jump into our bomb shelters and ready the small pox? Not yet, at least.
It is a little scary to see the site I’ve come to love get swapped with [...]
