Brand New Server, And Already It Needs Upgrading
The Young Writers Society has only been on its own server for six weeks now, and already we’re straining it! We’re very good on RAM (got two gigabytes of it), but not so good on CPU processing. Right now, the CPU is trying to process over two requests per second, when a good number is under 1. So what happens is a site slowdown during busy periods.
For now, I’m not concerned. A little slowdown is tolerable, and besides, activity will start dropping once Thanksgiving in the United States comes around. December will probably see a drastic drop, with the last week of December being the slowest week of the year. But in January or in February, I will have to upgrade the server.
Hopefully, by that time, the Young Writers Literary Journal will be selling well and I can pay for some upgrades without dipping once again into my pocket!

Oh god. If YWS ever ends up like the NaNo site, I will personally donate every penny I have to buying new servers. xD

Er, afterthought (sorry for the spam):
You know, a few years down the line, when some of us start getting published, I have a funny feeling some will donate some royalties.

Ooh, yeah. If ever I’m published, and they ever ask me ‘where did you pick up most of your writing skills?’ YWS will be the first answer. And, of course, I’d be practically obligated to donate some royalties, and happy to do so! Although, that’s probably a fairly unreliable promise…

As soon as christmas comes around, I’m going straight to the YWS store and ordering myself some YWS novelties. That will help a tiny bit at least and in a few years time, published or not, I’ll find a way to pay you back for everything you’ve done for us Nate =)
