The Knowledge Base Contest
Currently, Firestarter is running an official site contest to get the Knowledge Base filled up. If you contribute a few articles, you could very well walk away with a YWS notebook. Check out the contest thread for details.
Unfortunately, people haven’t been paying the contest much attention. Part of the problem I think is that many just don’t know what to add. For the Online Resources section, it’s easy. Just add links to helpful writing sites. But for the Knowledge Base section, it’s a bit harder. So I’ve come up with a list of articles that would be helpful to have, although please don’t take this as an exhaustive list! Just click the link for the suggestions.
The suggestions below are written out normally, and the sections they would go in are in bold.
- Grammar. Appropriate comma usage
- Grammar. Prepositions
- Writing Tutorials. Different points of views (should be broken up into three different articles)
- Grammar. Passive vs. active tense
- Poetry Tutorials. Different forms of poetry (one article per form unless they are closely linked)
- Miscellaneous. Best movies about writing
- Miscellaneous. Overcoming writer’s block.
Those are just some suggestions in case you want to write an article, but are not sure what to write.

My problem’s exactly; I didn’t know what to write about! Thanks, Nate.
