I'm going to have a hard time choosing between the 'Roo and the monkey. Both would be awesome. :P

So. You were saying? ;)

I drew a cute dragon once. His name was Demosthenes. I drew him EASILY in SEVERAL DIFFERENT POSES *pointed glare in Dono's direction* so it wouldn't be too hard.

As for dragons being overused... Well...

...Hmm. Good point.

Fine, my second choice is a chimp. Although that squid was kinda cute. And I'm still going to be the Dragon Keeper. Forever. The End.

Besides, I'm getting an uncanny feeling that Nate is a chimp... XD

I think Kangaroos are a bit Australiana-ish, considering that this is not an Australian site. Also I seem to be visualizing a kangaroo in boxing gloves much more easily than with writing implements (I have no idea why).

I don't particularly like dragons, they seem much more desturctive than anything else and I just wouldn't like them as a mascot.

So that means I want a Monkey mascot :) (see there's even a bit of alliteration there, how writer-like is that)

DRAGON DRAGON OH PICK A DRAGON!!!!!!

a horse or monkey sounds cool to but pick a DRAGON!!!!!
This thing all things devours;
Birds, beasts, trees, flowers;
Gnaws iron, bites steel;
Grinds hard stones to meal;
Slays king, ruins town,
Beats high mountain down.

NO dragons.

I say other! Other, of course, being a porcupine. Come on! With a name like Squills, it only seems natural... at least... to me. Right? Porcupines have porcupine needles, and needles are pointy, like.... quills!

No? Okay, how about a tropical bird? I think that would be a good option as well.
