It was hard to choose between scifi and mystery but science fiction always wins in the end. I don't know why but there's something about it that makes it incredible. :)

I said Western, I guess because I grew up on a cattle ranch in Montana where we watched John Wayne and all that stuff.I know plenty about it, and the history of it is interesting. I prefer to write Fantsasy, however.

Fantasy.

Period. That's all I have to say.

FANTASY!

The web of words the ensnares your drifting consciousness and whisks it away to a land of your own creation... of course it's my favorite.
With friends and courage one can stand against all foes, for neither man nor God can conquer those who are not alone

Fantasy fantasy fantasy.

I love looking at magic and just seeing something. A way of looking at the world not really thought of, and the exploration of how it works in a world, be it this one or a world of their own creation. There's so much richness that comes from a story that can't be explained through some rational means— the logic is inside the story and it stays there. But that's what I love. It's just different enough not to be real, but detailed enough to be an escape.

Science-Fiction, especially apocalyptic or post-apocalyptic dystopias. While it is easy for these kinds of stories to get preachy, when they're done right, you can really see the creativity and thoughtfulness of the tale, and it's so cool to the see the different ways authors take issues that are facing us or could do so in the future and make us think about them.

All our dreams can come true — if we have the courage to pursue them.

*bows* Yes! My favorite sub-genre! Apocalyptic and post-apocalyptic! Although, for myself, I prefer it when it's used more in a predominantly horror outlook, like The Stand by Stephen King. But, that's not to say I don't enjoy sci-fi post-poc. The People of Sand and Slag by Paolo Bacigalupi is a great story.

Why am I the only person posting here that likes horror? I realize I'm one of five who voted for it, but I'm the only one saying I voted for it?

I like horror because, in the end, fear is a very powerful emotion, and it makes us do many things. Even things on a day to day basis that we never think about. Fear of being struck down by lighting or a sudden sky-cow makes (some) of us less blasphemous (it's a joke). Fear can make people nice to each other, and even in some cases, love one another. Some people jump off cliffs just for the adrenaline caused by the fear and the excitement mixing in a witchs' brew of emotions. Of course, in horror, you also get be extremely gorey and people seem to not mind it so much. Take Dean Koonts for an example.
I'm striving to be the Architect of the Apocalypse, Master of the Massacre, Ruler of the Rapture, and the Führer of the Fatal.

"It is the tale, not he who tells it." --Stephen King

Take THAT, society!

I had to decide between Fantasy and Action/Adventure, but it wasn't too hard to say A/A. I mean you could have a really boring, little kid-ish Fantasy story, so unless there's some action or adventure in there, you will lose intrest.

I alwasy make my story to have a sense of surrealism by using an everyday scene and twisting it a bit to make it weird. I does have some bits of fantasy involved or science fiction (usually science fiction) but not really too much to become either of them.

I like all kinds of different genres, but I always like a story better if it has some romance in it, so that's why it's is my favourite genre. I don't think I've ever read a straight romance novel before.

Personally, I love horror. It brings the chills down my spine and gives me my adrenaline. I believe I can write good horror, but then again I also tend to have that urge to throw in some comedic relief in there when I am stressed. I also enjoy comedy, obviously, because I like having a good laugh. Fantasy is my least favorite to read. It gets too confusing to me too fast. And by just throwing things in bothers me. And geeks and nerds are offensive!!! Fanatics are better. ^_^

Horror. It's fun having characters squirm with or without blood and gore. :D
