I like fantasy the best because you can let your imagination run free, as long as everything is connected. In well written fantasies, everything tends to correlate towards some bigger, wider purpose that wasn't apparent at the beginning of the book. Fantasy doesn't necessarily have to be set in medieval times with swords and dragons and stuff like that; as long as it has a fantasy feel to it, then I consider it fantasy.
My high school senior mascot is a dragon. Take that, monkey!

Most Genre seriously depends on the writer but normally it be Horror, Fantasy and true stories.
We get off to the rhythm of the trigger and destruction. Fallujah to New Orleans with impunity to kill. We are the hidden fist of the free market.

Historical fiction (Bernard Cornwell + Pen = Genius), a bit of alternate history or a good ol' bit of fantasy. Helps you to escape the world a bit. Usually avoid mystery books like the plague (yeah I worked out the guy with the axe was John Doe etc 40 pages ago...zzzzzz) except Jeffery Deaver who is amazing.

LOTR??? Oh dear.

I'm a huge fan of fantasy. It lets you escape to other worlds where such incredible things are possible. Although I also like horror.

i agree with Taiven, i love books that make you think about it, thats why i love Augusten Burroughs so much, he writes so well that i want more! Memoirs are good if you want a real personal indepth read.
