Historical fiction...although I haven't read any actually well-written historical fiction in awhile...

I've always been pretty into fantasy. My basic philosophy when it comes to books is that reality doesn't belong in them. Right now I'm really into fairy tales. There's this whole series of books edited by Terri Windling and Ellen Datlow filled with fairy-tale stories, most based on ones we know, but a few new ones using fairy- tales conventions and themes. It's really quite good. You would be amazed by how much sex and violence that they have.
Please, sit down before you fall down.

My favorite genre is Literary/Critical Theory (i.e. Derrida, Deleuze and Guattari, Badiou). I can't usually choose a "genre" because every timeframe encapsulates all genres. So in the way of timeframes, I'm torn between Modern and Victorian Literature...

Same as marching_gurl and Sam. Historical fiction and Historical Non-fiction all the way.

Have either of you ever read any of the Sharpe series by Bernard Cornwell? Great books.

Anything with violence, blood, guns, corruption, evil, explosions, fire, death, flesh-eating zombies, drugs, rotting corpses, and any otherwise bad, disgusting, illegal, terrible, corrupting things is fine with me.

But when I can't get any of that, I'll take anything with unicorns, elves, baby horses, rainbows, polite leprechauns, fairies, babies, Santa, bunnies, hamsters, sugar cubes, and all otherwise cute, cuddley, loving, snuggly, furry warm things.

And I also like fantasy, romance, and sci-fi . . .

I'm really into Adventure/Action Fantasy. I like reading things with good battles. Like the R.A. Salvatore books. Drizzt's fights just jump of the page at you and I'm completely spell-bound by it.
