The sun was rising, its rays flashing streaks on the clouds stretching in between the two twin peaks. Their snow-topped peaks were the tallest mountains in the land, which made it great for studying the stars and the sky.
As Leigh and I reached the staircase for the observatory on the right reap, I sat my staff down and pulled the note out again. Its words were completely worn by now, but I memorized it already. "I can't believe we're flying to the capital on- on a freaking airship! Not any airship either, the land's finest! It's going to be great!"
Leigh picked the note out of my hand, stuffing it in my bag. "This is the third time you said this on our way up here. At this rate, we're going to be late."
I laughed, pulling ver along, "You know how I am, Lee. I can't help but be excited, I mean, it's a freaking airship! Oh, and not only that, but they outfitted it just for us! It's got an observatory and everything!" I chuckled as we started up the steps for the right Peak.
"An observatory for us to watch the stars during the day, how thoughtful." Ve smiled at the thought.
"Oh, I didn't think about that. Well, it's the thought that counts, right?" I pushed vim teasingly.
"Of course," ve looked at me intensely, "I'm guessing you are still on your adrenaline rush."
"Have been for thirty hours now. I don't sleep well." I looked up as we walked. "The stars just seem to... call to me. Can't sleep at night, certainly can't see during the day."
It was a long walk to the observatory, and it was hard for me to keep my silence as we walked, because there were so many things to talk about, but Leigh sometimes demanded silence. There was this aura around ver that just calmed even the most active people and caused them to question whether or not ve was human.
As we reached to end of the stairs, ve suddenly stopped. "I just realized. None of the professors were down in the square. That could only mean-"
"Bryan! Leigh! Welcome, I was wondering when you would arrive." Professor Sanders grasped us in a large hug, leading us down the small entrance way to the skydeck. "I'm just... shocked that the queen would pick you two for a council." His smile lessened as we walked down the walkway. "You guys must understand that you are representing the Academy in this. So, I expect you to do it well." He glanced at Leigh, "Both of you."
"Do not worry, Professor. I am sure the expectations of the Academy will be represented to the fullest on this expedition." Ve managed a small smile.
I jumped slightly, and my fingers twitched around my staff. "Okay, where's the ship?"

After several rounds of farewells to the professors, we got on the ship and were shown our rooms. I immediately ran to the observatory, but the sun was out completely at that time. Leigh walked with me back to our rooms.
"Well, Bryan. Get your rest now, because I feel this will be the only time we could get it." Ve smiled at me warmly, and left me alone in the hallway.
"G'night, Leigh. Or, morning. Or, something." I shook my head at my mind and walked into my room.
It was a small room, but lavishly furnished. It was definitely much more different that anything I had seen, with its thick curtains and bright colors. It felt distracting more than anything.
Laying down, I sighed and tried to calm my mind. This whole week was exciting, from graduating the first tier of the Academy to this? It has been something to remember. But, Leigh was right. I needed my rest, no matter how much my body complained about it.
I closed my eyes and let my subconscious succumb to the tendrils of sleep.
