Ok It's not so much a thing I don't understand, It's something I need inspiration on.
I am starting a humanities project on the first world war. I have to write a diary as a soldier I have chosen his name and that he is 18, from Lancashire, has a young fiance and Is based in Belgium. The actual diary I have no problem with, the thing is to get extra marks you can include letters from home, newspaper cuttings and cartoons. This is what I am stuck on. Does anyone have any ideas regarding what extra things I should add to the diary?

Thank you!

1. See if you can locate some old WWI comics (something involving the Kaiser?) and have it used as book marker.

2. After you finish it, take it outside and smudge mud on the pages. Don't cover it with mud, just have present.

3. I have a book in my list of things I need to read that is a collection of letters from soldiers to their loved ones and vice versa. I can type up a few letters and give you the source so you can do further research.

When is this due?

Write a poem from your soldier to his fiance.

and don't forget to sign stuff with S.W.A.L.K.
