I feel like a complete idiota for asking this question but I'm just slightly confused.

I have this assignment and it says: Identify two literary and/or visual elements in your polished work.

Here's the question: For visual do they the imagery I used in my work? And literary do they mean...what?

Still, I feel so stupid. I should know this but I can't seem to find the answer in my brain. :(

I don't know what they mean by visual, but I know what literary elements. Literary elements are specific terms.

Ex) Protagonist, setting, empathy, action, conflict, etc.

What it's asking you is to identify some of these terms that you used.

Ex) Lets say I wrote a piece that was about a war and I used conflict.

I would give a definition: Conflict- a dispute between multiple people, countries, or ideals.

Then I'd say how I used it.

I used conflict to describe the relationship between the ___ and ___. I wrote about how ___ is fighting ___ for ___ reason. And so on.

I don't know if your assignment is as specific as I'm being, but I hope I help even a little.

The elements of literature are things such as plot, setting, conflict... etc. Things that show up in the writing of your work.

Visual elements might mean bolding, italicizing, indention... etc. Visual things that you can see in your work.

Of course, I could be wrong. This is just what I personally learned in school.

I see where your confusion lies, though.

Sorry, this probably didn't help,

I'm pretty sure that visual refers to your imagery and things. Figures of speech, all that. The literary thing sounds like it refers to literary terms, such as character, plot, soliloquy, hyperbole, colloquialism, etc. and examples of them in your writing.

I can see where your confusion comes from. Talk about a poorly-worded assignment. :S
