From the top of my head:

Sex was kept pretty tightly behind closed doors, it was the era of corsets; men and women, when they married, lived in the same house but with separate bedrooms, modesty was a high priority...

It was also the age of Sigmund Freud, the psychologist who was pretty well obsessed with sex and pretty much linked everything the human mind could conceive back to it. You can go Here for more on him. Quite the clash of cultures. Also, as a side note, it was considered bad taste to mention his name where ladies might hear, much like swearing in front of them.

It was also the time of the World's Fair. Great Britain had been one of the leaders in technology and mechanics and engineering at the time, and its Crystal Palace just drove home that point. (And naturally, the first World's Fair was held in the Crystal Palace). The Crystal Palace, built completely out of metal and glass, was one of the wonders of its age, and housed many similar, smaller technological wonders.

The right to vote was also extended to all men who paid taxes (Before, it was granted only to those who made <insert high salary here> a year, and before that, it had been <insert even higher salary here> ) So extending the right to all who paid taxes was quite the big step.

It was also the time of Darwin and his book, the Origin of Species. The Victorian era is often classified as one of peace and scientific advancement. It's also presented as highly conservative, when it comes to domestic issues.

You can check out the wiki for more, I'm sure. :) I just got done writing essays for it in History class.

EDIT:

Naturally, there are several textbooks you could read to learn more about the era, but I'm not sure how deep you want your research to be. Questia, the online library for college students, is guaranteed to have loads of stuff from that era, any thing fro magazines and journals to big thick books. You can also look up 'Victorian Era' in Google Books/Scholar and it can give you a list. If you just want an at a glance source, though, there's the wiki for you. :)
