"I think you could start now. You're right handed, aren't you?"

"Then you're fit to start! Just tell your trainer to go easy on your left side for awhile." Sera took the tray and walked back to the cabinet. "Have you found someone yet?"

“No.” Ky shook her head. “… I think I’m going to have to pick someone.” She wrinkled her nose at the idea of having to make a decision like this.

Sera chuckled, amused by her expression. "Have you talked to Gaius about it? We have some excellent fighters here. Captain Bay and General Xander being two of them. But there are others."

“He mentioned them,” Ky said with a nod. “I’m fine with anyone — whatever’s easiest. I’m not very good. A normal solider could probably teach me, with my current skill level. I don’t want to waste their time.”

"You're a Lord's daughter," Sera reminded her. "They wouldn't see it as a waste of time, I'm sure."

Ky blushed and nodded. She wanted to say she just wished she’d be of them would pick who wanted to do it. But she figured she’d just get told, again, that she was a Lord’s daughter and had to make decisions now. “I definitely appreciate it.”

"Do you know when Gaius'll be introducing candidates to you?" Sera asked, setting about getting a kettle ready to sterilize the equipment she had just used. Rickard went back to looking at the book, though his head was tilted towards them slightly.

“No.” Ky shook her head. “I think he was waiting until you clear me.”

"Well, you can let him know you're cleared." Sera smiled at her. "He's probably in his office or in the library."

“Thank you.” Ky smiled, feeling like she should contribute to the conversation, and yet coming up short. “Do you have any big plans for today?”

Sera thought for a moment. "Nothing in particular. Rickard and I were thinking of heading out to the village a bit later to shop. Is there anything you'd like me to pick up for you?"

“No thank you,” Ky said quickly. Imagine, asking for something. She’d rather die. “Thank you, though.”

Sera dipped her head. "We're leaving around noon. Do let us know if you think of anything. Food, supplies, trinkets, stuff like that."
