The 2018 Writing Olympics
Ten Events on Eleven Consecutive Days
Do you have what it takes to be a YWS Olympian?
Do you have what it takes to be a YWS Olympian?
What's going on?
Beginning February 9th and going through February 18th, the Young Writers Society will once again be hosting our very own Writing Olympics! Each day there will be a new event with events lasting only 24 hours. On the last two days, there will be an epic scavenger hunt calling for you to scour the deepest depths of YWS for answers!
Winners and Prizes
For each event, there will be a gold medal, a silver medal, and a bronze medal. Gold earns you 3 points, silver earns you two points, and bronze earns you a point. At the end of the Writing Olympics, these points get tallied up and the top three are announced. This means that it is definitely possible to never earn a gold medal but still finish first overall!
There will be participation badges and badges for the winners, as well as bragging rights!
Teams!
You can also form and create your own teams. To start a team, simply create a topic in the Writing Olympics forum. Here's an example from the 2016 Writing Olympics:

A team can be open or closed -- it's completely up to you. At the end of the Writing Olympics, the points earned by the individual team members will be added up, and this will be used to determine the winning team (this will be decided by points per capita rather than overall points). The winning team will earn bragging rights for all!
Please note that is absolutely not necessary to join a team, and that teams exist mainly for moral support.
