Just dropping in to let you know that you're doing a great job, Nate. Happy New year to you! :D

Changed around the colors some of the forums area. I never really liked the blue or how if you hovered over a forum, it turned to yellow. So I changed the default theme from phpBB prosilver to phpBB prosilver SE. If you want, you can see what the default theme looks with no modifications here:

Got back from New Years, and decided to do some updating. A list follows:

- Added a "Who's Chatting" block to the front page.

- When you submit a post, you now get immediate confirmation. Hopefully no more double-posting?

- Default avatars for people who don't pick an avatar.

I'm also in the midst of making search better. It'll take a while, but in the meantime, do not expect search to work. Of course, it probably wasn't working right to begin with, so...

Nate, is it possible to make the allowed dimensions for avatars larger?
If not that's cool, it's just really hard to find an avatar that is 100x100 pixels.

If you want your avatar resized, I've made this thread for a quick fix. Just drop it there, and I'll take care of it.

I had to see what the default avatar was, so I clicked the newest member.

I love the default.

Looking great, Nate! Thanks for all you're doing.
I'm loving the blue, by the way, it's really easy on the eyes.

Thanks all. I greatly appreciate your patience and gracious words.

In any case, something people may find interesting is that in terms of pageviews at least, YWS is now back to where it was before the upgrade. That's despite the loss of profiles, notifications and clubs. As well as the lack of many features, such as review counts, review stars, points, portfolios, etc. Not to mention the ugly looking areas, such as the dashboard.

It'll be interesting to see what activity is like once everything is back!

Edit

Also, I realize this is me tooting my own horn, but I love how when you click the 'submit' button, you get instant feedback.

Search is now... vastly better.

I installed a new search engine called Sphinx. It took me a couple days to figure out how to install it (all the 500 Server errors were pretty much due to me trying to install this program), but it should be well worth it in the long run. Searches are now pretty much instantaneous, which is awesome. Theoretically, it should also be possible to extend it to other areas of the site when it comes online, but that will probably prove difficult.

But, yes. Search is fast now.

Edit

The private messages area also seems to be inexplicably faster now. It used to take a few hours for my PMs to load, but it took only a few seconds just now. If other people could confirm whether this is, it'd be helpful.

Searching is impressively fast! Loading my PM inbox was also very fast -- it barely took a few seconds -- although I'm not sure if it's actually faster than before or whether the power of suggestion just makes it seem that way.

EDIT: Yes the "instant feedback" to posting is very groovy. 8)
