Watersprite: The Cambridge International Student Film Festival is a Cambridge society independent of the central University. The festival is run by students, with the assistance of our patron, Hilary Bevan Jones. We are quickly establishing an event that showcases and celebrates new talented filmmakers from around the world.

Script Lab 2012

Following the success of last year’s event, Watersprite 2012 is proud to once again provide student screenwriters with the opportunity to have their work critiqued by an industry expert through the Script Lab competition.

The Script Lab will take form as a one-hour long session where the winning scripts will be developed and reworked with this expert, while also showing the audience how a screenplay moves from pitch to concept to film.
Aurite Kouts, one of the winners of our Script Lab competition in 2011, submitted her revised script ‘Fur Coat’ to the Zagreb Jewish Film Festival talent workshop and it was selected to be made. The Watersprite Team are looking for student screenwriters to submit their short film scripts. After shortlisting with the help of an industry expert, 3 scripts will be chosen to take part in the Script Lab, so get submitting your work and you might be selected for this rare opportunity!
All scripts must meet the terms and conditions for entry which are:

1. Scripts must be submitted by a student, who wrote the script in question no more than 2 years ago.
2. Students are welcome to submit up to three scripts.
3. Scripts must be no longer than 10 pages in length.
4. Scripts must be in industry format (please see this page for more details and templates:
5. Scriptwriters must consent to having a protected PDF version of their scripts available for viewing on the Watersprite website 2 week before the festival weekend.
6. Preferred format is PDF, but Word documents are also accepted.
7. Scripts must not have already been made into a film, or in development for production.
8. Participants must be prepared to travel to Cambridge for the festival weekend, if their script is chosen.

To enter go to our website www.watersprite.org.uk/the-event/2012-script-lab/

I'd urge anyone interested in screenwriting to apply and if you're in the Cambridge area to come along for some of the festival weekend, you can find out more about it on the website www.watersprite.org.uk
