Besides reviewing, is there anything else that is looked into?
What exactly determines featured member of the month?

I like to imagine that the Featured Member is the survivor of a secretive and highly illegal behind-the-scenes gladiators' tournament.

Or the FBI determines it after tracking you for weeks.

Nah, I believe its if you are consistently helpful around the site, have good reviews/greets and surpass yourself with helping the moderators take account and you have a chance at featured member.

There was a post about here somewhere *searches*

Kamas pretty much has it! There's also being kind, caring, helpful in general, and respecting other members.

But, really, there's only one featured member chosen every month, and there are a lot of good members on YWS. Don't worry about it too much. :)
You know you're a writer when you're not alarmed at hearing voices in your head, you can't read a book without analyzing it for plot & characters and you consider something you nearly killed yourself to write the most rewarding.

Guilty as charged.

*pats Kammie* It's ok, you won already. :D

Well, it's pretty much what everyone has said, I guess. I would say that it's going above and beyond what other (good) members do. Or something ...

Maybe it really is the FBI ... o.O

I think the four spies in my house have something to do with it.
Spoiler! :
I like people thinking that I have something so scandalous to say that I put it in spoiler tags, and I'm sorry that because of this selfish desire you were roped into reading this for not real lasting value.
