... because I used to be able to, and I can view my old bookmarks on my preferences page, but I can't seem to make new ones. (I would use browser bookmarks but I'm always switching computers.) There are some stories I'd like to read and review in the future and I don't want to forget about them.

As far as I can tell, there is no way to bookmark stories or threads, aside from using browser bookmarks. It looks like they've been disabled.

You cN always make yourself a little checklist in Will Review For Food. :3 Or in Word Doc. Whatever floats your boat! But nope, no bookmarks for the site. Unfortunately.

It had a perfectly round door like a porthole, painted green, with a shiny yellow brass knob in the exact middle. The door opened on to a tube-shaped hall like a tunnel: a very comfortable tunnel without smoke, with panelled walls, and floors tiled and carpeted, provided with polished chairs, and lots and lots of pegs for hats and coats—the hobbit was fond of visitors. The tunnel wound on and on, going fairly but not quite straight into the side of the hill —The Hill, as all the people for many miles round called it—and many little round doors opened out of it, first on one side and then on another.
— JRR Tolkien
