Rule: Write a strong first sentence for a novel idea.
Catch: It has to be 20 words or less.
(I borrowed the idea from Writer's Digest 8)

Here's mine:

Pranks were meant to be funny, but nothing was amusing about the hole in my empty pocket sans car keys.
