This used to be a thing on the Nanowrimo forums — it's fun and short, and it gets the creative juices flowing.

I post a word. You write something out of it for five minutes — could be a poem, drabble/flash fiction, freewrite, whatever.

At the end of five minutes, you post your writing + wordcount.

Ready?

The word is:
enemies.

And go! : )
"He yanked himself free and fled to the kitchen where something huddled against the flooded windowpanes. It sighed and wept and tapped continually, and suddenly he was outside, staring in, the rain beating, the wind chilling him, and all the candle darkness inside lost."

They are mean and ugly
At least in my eyes
Mine are lathered in the stuff
That I call gross
And disgusting
But they like to call
Lip-gloss

Also, their aura
Is just... annoying
You can feel it in your gut
You know you can
It makes you paranoid
And it churns your stomach
Until you feel all queasy

Everything's wrong with them
Whatever happens
It's usually all their fault
And it feels good to wipe
All your dirt on their back
Metaphorically of course
Though I wish it wasn't.

And I wish that they would
Just go stick their head
In the respectful area
Which in their case
Happens to be
The wonderful appliance
Named the food-processor

:D

"No way! You can't do that!"

"Yes I can!"

"I won't let you."

"You can't do anything to stop me. Nothing."

"Watch m-"

"..."

"Sorry."

"..."

"Sorry... I'm sorry alright? I'm sorry!"

"...tch..."

"Wha-?"

"Forget it. You wouldn't understand. You'll never understand."

"What? How can you say that? I want to help you!"

"You're doing a lousy job of it. And I don't want your help."

"Just give me a chance! I'll try! I'll try..."

"No! Dont you get it? No! You won't understand any of it! Being blind... You. Can't. Understand!"

"Please..."

"No! I hate you! Your pity, I hate it. Pity is all you ever give, pity without action. Leave me alone!"

"No! Wait! Don't run!"

"I hate you!"

"No, please! Allison! I... love you..."

That was quite fun. I was definitely overusing ellipses then. But it was fun nonetheless.
There once was a cat.
He wasn’t particularly fat.
Fuzzy was his favorite mat.
And really, that was that.

Oh, but did you really think so?
Keep reading, it’s just the start of the show!
And as for how far this tale will go…
Well, even the cat doesn’t know.
