When you're doing something ordinary, such as driving to college or to see a friend and you see something. Something wonderful yet simple and suddenly you see an idea forming in your mind and you can't wait to either grab your phone or get home to write it down.

... while you are crying your eyes out, a little voice in the back of your head wonders, "How can I make this into a story? What word choice would fit this emotion? Hmm..."

... your laughing with your friends and you suddenly say, "Hey, I could write a poem about that!"

... during free write time in English class, you write a novel.

... you start writing short stories/poems in a particularly boring class.

You know when you're a writer when...

You act out the scene you're going to write down. Then someone comes in on you and asks what the Hell are you doing but you answer them with a blank expression, "Writing." Then they step away from you and call help...

You know when you're a writer when....

...You stick your hand-held pencil sharpener in your pocket when you go somewhere and forget it's there for a few days.

...You keep more thank 20 pencil at home or in your backpack

...You start writing the story of your life in your head and apologize when you don't add to it. (almost like a mind journal/diary)

...You become so attached to a character that you use their name for your user name on a website

You know you are a writer when...

...You talk to a book character and they reply back

...You hear voices narrating your life

...You pretend to kick the bad guys butt

...You continue a story when it's left a cliff hanger

You know you're a writer when you make up a story in your mind about what a random stranger you saw could be doing.

You know you're a writer when...

...the first thing you do in the morning, even before coffee, is jot down any ideas that may have come from your dreams.

...even the smallest detail can spark you off on a story.

...when your off-line friends don't understand a word of what your talking about when you start talking about your novel, so you come here and everyone understands.

You know you're a writer when you find yourself on YWS during art class, music class, calculus class, physics class, lunch break, morning, night, afternoon, weekend, other time, and more.

Oh and history class.

You know you're a writer when....

...you read through this whole thread.

...you cry a lot.

....you think of an amazing idea right before bed, decide not to write it down, then beat yourself up about it the next day.

...you hear your character's voice in your head.

...you enjoy writing more than socializing.

....choose to spend a Friday or Saturday night reading or writing instead of going out.

...you realize you need to go to bed but can't because you have to finish this paragraph.

....you have burn marks on your legs from your laptop.

... You yell at somebody for reading your stuff

...That person just so happens to be your dad

...Your dad almost bans you from the computer for a month

... It almost kills you to be away from YWS

... You get bored enough to start doing extra chores (Wait, sorry, I-uh-forgot what I was about. OOPS)

You know you're a writer when you wake up in the middle of the night from a dream to write it down because it would make a great story.
