The only reason you continue to have conversations with people is to improve the dialogue in your stories.

I've gone ahead and written an entire poem about this concept, even though I know most people are expecting just couple sentences or a paragraph. And really my poem could be summarized into something much shorter (which I'm almost certain has already been mentioned somewhere on this topic). But it's so much more fun when it's a poem. So now I present to you...

You Know You're A Writer When

Spoiler! :
As many have done before
I sit here staring
at the daunting blank page.
It's endless whiteness
like a linen sheet
stretched out to its limit.

This goes on for far to long
then I get enough sense
to play a little music.
Something soft and slow
to ease me into
the mood I that need.

The first word is slow
it creeps out like a spider
dancing across its web.
Then they come flying.
One after another.
Tangling up into eachother.

My fingers work to fast
clicking across the keys.
My words are getting jumbled.
Mixing up the vowels
as if my fingers
where some sort of blender.

I focus on what I'm saying,
spelling will come in due time.
For now I must get across
this point I'm holding
deep within myself.

All to soon it is over.
I've written my last sentence.
I slow to a stop and let it sink in.
I've completed my task.

Darn! I've hit send!
I hadn't had a chance
To fix the spelling
on my text message.
~You can only grasp what you reach for~

Whenever anything happens you have this sudden urge to like just write everything down and somehow arrange everything into a story worth telling cause somehow at that moment you feel like its the only thing within your power that you can control and you try your best to channel whatever feelings you have like a sudden downpour wholeheartedly into your work!

When you write down interesting sentences you hear in the cafeteria.

Oh dear god. Outcasts and the Guild of the Orbs by David Louis Mefford. I've actually started doing that with it. It's just too painful to read!

All your school essays, whether their fictional or non-fictional, revolve around your novel and characters. My English teacher told me that I should stop doing that. :-)

No E-mail or written letter is ever short. In fact, they’re so long and lengthy, you find yourself constantly apologizing about the enormous amount of pages like you committed a great sort of crime.

After you’ve finished said E-mail or letter, by habit, you edit everything before clicking Send.

hahaha, that's very true for me. :D

You hear/think of a random word and, as quickly as possible, you HAVE to look it up in the dictionary to see if you can use it anywhere. :P

There's that itch you can't scratch, where you are constantly writing random things, jumping from one thing to the other.

When instead of singing in the shower, you act out dialogue the way your MC would. :D
"Wade through the fire
and jump the fences
for the light we create
is so much bigger
than the darkness
we've come through.
Let the clothes burn
and rip on the wire,
nothing will stop us.
Nothing."
