High above the chaos of the world, nestled in the remote regions of the Great Mountains, is the Mountain Aerie, a Gryphon Civilization. Within their borders are sharp peaks, glacial valleys, mountain lakes, frigid streams, and dense alpine forests.

The Gryphons have roamed the mountains for millennia, but only recently have other species begun to immigrate to their territory. Refugees from all nations have found sanctuary in the Mountain Aerie; and while the land dwellers will never carry the standing of an aviator; they can still become members of the Aerie.

As more and more refugees arrive, the gryphons begin to debate amongst themselves on how best to serve the growing population of refugees. Do they expand their borders to gain more territory? Do they seal their borders? Or do they confront the chaos around them?

It is at this point that a Princess and her loyal bodyguards arrive to seek help from the Aviators of the Mountain Aerie; and this is where our story begins.

There is no need to go into detail about their training or equipment, that is something you can do in story. You can include a picture, but if you're really good you'll just include that detail in story.

Please note that the Mountain Aerie is run by a Gryphon known as the Matron. The Patron, her husband, is in charge of their military. Both are NPC's.

Normal storybooking rules apply.

Please post profiles.

"Princess," came the urgent whisper. Princess Ria started from her sleep and her dagger was moving, but stopped inches from the speaker. It was Captain Hawkins, the leader of her bodyguards. Ria relaxed.

"What is it Captain?" Ria asked, sheathing her dagger.

"You were crying out," he said.

"Loudly?" she asked.

"No; softly this time." Both of them scanned the forest, but nothing moved.

"How far are we from the Mountain Aerie?"

"I don't know, but it can't be much further," Captain Hawkins said. There was a sound of a branch snapping.

"We need to move. Now," he said. Ria nodded and began moving with distinctly un-princesslike speed. A month had changed her. When she had left, she had one hundred mounted royal guards. Now, they numbered only twelve all of which were on foot. Rebels, sickness, and a mudslide had severely depleted their numbers, and now they were being hunted by bounty hunters.

At least, Ria hoped they were bounty hunters.

They moved quickly through the forest.

"Captain, we've got movement behind us," one of the guards whispered.

"Make for that outcropping ahead," Captain Hawkins said.
