Plot:
Spoiler! :
The Kalos region has always believed itself to have the greatest of the Pokémon leagues, and the greatest champion. Champion Diantha has always been renowned for three qualities: an astounding beauty, a ferocious battling style and a generous soul. After an unfortunate defeat at the hands of a mysterious young trainer, she realized the potential of todays youth should they merely be given the opportunity to learn and grow.

Thus came the birth of Pokéacademy. Champion Diantha built the massive campus in the foothills of the Kalos region's Victory Road. Using her influence and immense monetary reserves, she orchestrated the creation of the world's largest Pokémon reserve. Encompassing miles upon miles of woodland, mountain range, marshlands, hot springs, underground caverns and the odd haunted house, it's also home to practically every Pokémon in the Pokédex.

Working in conjunction with Pokémon Professors around the world, Champion Diantha set about gathering students. Each year, each of the participating Pokémon Labs would be able to give scholarships to three promising youths, along with a "starter" Pokémon. This process, known as the "Lab Grant", could only produce about eighteen students a year though. Thus, the school also created the "Gym Grant", where a students tuition would be covered by a sponsoring Pokémon Gym Leader, and the student a specialist in that gym's type. This provided another 48 students annually, plus the "Elite Grant" in which a member of the regions Elite Four provided a scholar ship to a student of their Pokémon type. In total, 90 students a year may attend Pokéacademy. 18 from "Lab Grants", 48 from "Gym Grants" and 24 "Elite Grants".

The school covers 9th through 12th grade,(Ages 14-18) and the curriculum is based around four subjects; Pokémon Research, Pokémon Battling, Pokémon Coordinating and Pokémon Breeding. Students pick a major, and then are released into the campus.

Majors:
Spoiler! :
Research major students attempt to catch at least one of every Pokémon, and compare and contrast observations with the global database. They build their excursions around their classes, as lectures by visiting Pokémon Professors are frequent and often interesting.

Battle major students are mostly nomadic, traveling as to train their Pokémon to a supreme level. They only stop by the main facilities to restock on supplies, or to battle visiting Gym Leaders. There is an internal ranking system, and popularity has a definite connection a trainers badge count. Sometimes they wander in groups with similar typing (i.e. The Poison-type "Gym Grants" would likely roam together)

Coordinating majors are dedicated to honing their Pokémons beauty and skill. They take advantage of the school's local arena, and train all around campus for weekly Pokémon Contests, judged by a rotating panel of different judges.

Breeding majors are the most stationary, tending to the hordes of Pokémon that trainers around the world send to the school for training and growth. They also organize many extracurricular activities and contests, such as races, dances and the odd Pokémon Contest.

Name: Ciel Turntauros

Age/Grade: 16 - Grade 10

Home Region: Hoenn

Appearance/Description: He is of average height, but rugged from the hard work of tending to a herd of Militank and Tauros. Stout and calloused, but with a kind face under his mop of brown hair.

Grant Type: "Lab Grant"

Major: Battle

Current Pokémon:
Slot 1:Mudkip "Skipper": Level 15
Moves Learned: Water Gun, Tackle, Mudslap, Bide

Personality: Ciel is dilligent, honest and hardworking; the sterotypical farmboy. He grew up on a Militank ranch, the oldest of four boys. Keeping them in line taught him leadership, and the tragic death of his mother gave him an early maturity. He's had to be there for those he's loved from a young age, so he's matured into a responsible young adult fairly quickly. The disadvantages of putting his family first is that his education has been somewhat limited, but he makes up for his simple nature by being kind and empathetic.

History: Ciel was the first of four boys for his young parents. The two of them had been raised in the city of Lilycove, but moved inland to the country to start a family. The first eight years of Ciel's life were spent in the cheery Hoenn sun, working with his father and brothers. Ciel also showed a passion for Pokémon battles, cheering for his favorite trainers on the families rare trips into the city, and training with the Tauros when his chores were done. His boisterous younger siblings were more than eager sparring participants. Unfortunately, those happy days came to an end when his mother died in a freak monsoon. The strange weather cleared up minutes later to be replaced by a scorching heat, but the damage was done; the roof of their house had collapsed, on top of Mrs. Turntauros. From then on, the farm became quieter. The sun became a bland light in the sky. The playful bickering of the boys was swallowed by the pervasive, somber silence. Without her around, his mother's duties fell to Ciel, and as his father retreated farther into himself, Ciel couldn't bring himself to even think of a life other than one on the farm. Thats why he ignored Professor Birch when he came, explaining the unique opportunity of "Pokéacademy". The disappointed Professor left, but returned a year later, a week before Ciel's 16th birthday party, and challenged him to a battle. At first Ciel refused, but then he looked at the hollow faces of his brothers, and the shrunken frame of his father, and realized that what they needed wasn't someone trying to fill his mothers shoes, but someone who was willing to move past it. He accepted the Professors challenge, and beat the Professors team with his loyal Tauros. The battle was the first time any of the boys had spoken in more than a whisper in years.

Although he missed the first year, Professor Birch again offered the scholarship to Ciel, and this time he accepted, saying goodbye to his renewed family, and meeting his new best friend; a cheerful Mudkip he affectionately calls "Skipper". He came in as a new sophomore, replacing one of the Hoenn "Lab Grants" that had been expelled for the bullying of other students.

I am definitely going to create a character for this amazing story book! But may I suggest Pokemon coordinator as one more major?

Name: Andrew Sagestone

Age/Grade: 16/ 11th Grade

Home Region: Kanto

Appearance/Description: For a dude of sixteen years, Andrew's about five-foot-ten and has blazing red hair. In spite of this, he's always seen dressed in forest green with a matching bandana over his head. His hair is as long as to the middle of his back and always kept in a ponytail braid to stay from fire when such time comes around. He wears a short-sleeve shirt, since he has a thing for the Fire Pokémon in the Academy. Half the time, you can only see him wearing either sneakers or fire-proof boots. He has deep blue eyes that burn when he's angry. He smiles now and again, but never shows teeth.

Grant Type: Lab Grant

Major: Breeding

Current Pokémon:
Slot 1: Charmander "Blaze" Lv 15
Moves: Scratch, Growl, Ember, Smokescreen

Personality: Andrew's got a soft spot for Pokémon of all shapes and sizes, hence being a Breeding major in the Academy. He treats his partner Blaze with utmost devotion and respect and always makes sure the Lizard Pokémon's tail stays strong. Whenever he has to battle, Andrew won't hesitate to let Blaze take a chance at training, but will intentionally quit the battle if Blaze's flame becomes weak. However, if Blaze tries to pull through in spite of the weak flame, Andrew will allow Blaze to continue fighting. Outside battles, Andrew is quiet and easy to trust when you get to know him and be nice to his partner. Whenever a Pokémon is hurt, Andrew's quick to come and would use the best of his knowledge to help restore a Pokémon - whether it's rare or otherwise - back to full health.

History: Andrew's the eldest and only son of three children - just him and a pair of five-year-old twins with their parents (a coordinator father and a Breeder mother). He was chosen by Professor Oak to enroll into the Academy upon recommendation of his mother, who often stated that Andrew's heart was always with Pokémon since he started caring for wild Pokémon at the same age as the twins. He was given a shot at the Academy with a Lab Grant and decided to follow in his mother's footsteps. His choice of a partner was a male Charmander Andrew named Blaze as a compliment to the tail. Both Andrew and Blaze were taken to the Kalos region where they've spent their first two years together learning the ropes of Pokémon breeding. Although Blaze hasn't been in battle most of the time, he's known to have a deep loyalty towards Andrew and has never left Andrew's side unless he was told to.

Name: Arthur Wing

Age/Grade: 15/ Freshman

Home Region: Johto

Appearance/Description: He's tall for his age standing about 6' nothing. Arthur has semi-long dark brown hair he usually wears it in a ponytail except when in a battle or flying. He wears a long brown leather coat and gloves that reach up to his wrist, he wears blue jeans tucked into his boots. Arthurs prized possession are the goggles he wears, a gift from Falkner.

Grant Type: Gym Grant

Major: Battle and research

Current Pokémon: Fletchling, "Flames", 15
Moves- Flare Blitz, Brave Bird, Steel Wing, and Fly

Personality: Arthur is an analytical battler and fierce competitor. He also has a wandering nature always eager to explore and meet new people but, especially eager to prove he's the best. Arthur is also kind and understanding, especially as his love for the flying type especially his fascination with the legendary birds has gotten him treated rudely by electric type trainers.

History: Arthur grew up in the Johto region and while other trainers of the age of ten were receiving their starter Pokemon and their Pokedex he was training under Falkner. His parents were wandering ace trainers that left him with the sages of Violet town. Falkner saw the potential of the child and took him under his wing once he turned ten. He began with a Hoot-hoot, a gift from Falkner that started out quite disobedient. Arthur easily turned back trainers in their attempts to beat the gym after gaining Hoot-hoot's trust. After several battles and a win/loss record trending towards winning, Falkner gave him a Pokemon egg that had come from Kalos. Falkner informed him that he was to nurture the egg and travel to the Kalos region with the Pokemon that hatched from it under a gym grant for the Pokemon Academy.

Eventually the egg hatched in to a Fletchling with a powerful move set. It was a gift fit for a kid that was to become the next Pokemon master. Arthur named his new friend Flames as the small bird seemed to radiate an inner heat and it seemed suitable because of his red feathers. Arthur and Flames arrived at Pokemon Academy with a fire in their eyes and a dream in their heart, to be the best, become league champion, and meet the legendary birds of their home regions Lugia and Ho-oh and maybe now in this new region even Yveltal. What truly excited him was the rumors of sightings of the ancient legendary birds: Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres. His dream was to capture all the great birds and become a legend himself as the greatest Flying Pokemon trainer ever.

Viola Sainte Character Profile
Spoiler! :
I call myself Viola Sainte
I am fourteen years old, in grade nine.
I live in the region of Unova.
I have orange hair and hazel eyes. I have pale caucasian skin with small pores.
I am a Lab Grant.
I am in the Research & Coordinating Major.
I own a Level Twenty-Five Petilil whom I like to call Tiger-Lily.
I am very kind, although I do have a short temper. I am NOT afraid to speak my mind. I can be very stubborn and persistent. Some people say that I can also by hypocritical at times, but that I always apologize when I am proven wrong.
I will tell you my history. Let's start from the very beginning. No, I'll tell you before that. It was a long time ago, at least fifty years ago. My parents met at work. They both worked at the same lab. They fell in love at first sight. Years later, I was born. A beautiful bouncing redheaded baby girl. I grew up loving Pokemon. And now, I am here. Ta-da! I am absolutely terrible with details.
Oh, I'm such a fool! I can't be free!

This is awesome! Once LockedLibrary posts her profile, we'll have 8 participating writers, which is honestly 7 more than I expected :D - I think this is more than enough reason to start talking about the story.

Do we want to brainstorm a general plot direction, or just start writing and see where it takes us?

In terms of overarching plot goals, classes, legendary Pokémon, Team Rocket/Plasma/Flare type shenanigans, the official school Pokémon battle ranking system and evolving/catching new Pokémon are some of the ideas I had.

I also had some ideas for just random slices of life for other students at the school; trainers competing for evolutionary stones, gangs of like-typed students roaming around, stuff like that.
