The Tragedy of Hanz

History

Over twenty years of war have riddled the kingdoms of Hanz and Bachlea. The Bachlovian people have magic, so although they are a smaller population than the Hanzionites, they were able to hold off the army with success. The Bachlovian population has wished peace between the lands for nearly five years, and finally, the King of Hanz has accepted to hear out an ambassador. Hopefully, this will create a temporary peace treaty which would allow a real peace treaty to be written up.
King of Hanz, and the King of Bachlea agree to have the ambassador as a guest at the Riverglade house just on the edge between Hanz and Bachlea. The property formally belongs to the King of Hanz, but it is currently run by Hanz's second son and his wife, who anxiously await the arrival.

To ensure that this is the proper direction to take the country, the King of Hanz has told his son to search out a fortune teller, and receive their praise. In the mean time, the King of Hanz is heading towards the castle himself to make the negotiations in person, but the prince has to entertain the ambassador should the ambassador arrive first, which is probable.

Plot

In the actual story, there is to be tension before the ambassador arrives. The prince is stalling for the king. When the ambassador arrives, the prince's wife kills him, and the husband, the prince, covers up her murder. When the King arrives for the peace negotiations that night, he finds the army at the door trying to break in, his son locked away inside, and hears that his son has killed the ambassador.

The Tragedy of Hanz

The simple truth is that authors like making people squirm. If this weren't the case, all novels would be filled completely with cute bunnies having birthday parties.
