The Major Arcana. Though their origins have been largely forgotten, the people still portrayed on decks of Tarot cards today, are still alive...barely. There are only seven out of twenty-two of them left and they are being hunted down slowly by a force bent on destroying the world.

The History

Spoiler! :
In the old days, the Major Arcana were twenty-two powerful immortals with world-shaping powers that kept the people of Earth in balance. They bore names like The Magician, The Tower, The Star, Justice, Death...and many more. Out of gratitude for their actions, the humans they protected placed their likeness on Tarot Cards. They weren't necessarily all good, and many would seek power beyond what they had. In the modern age, they have weakened and gone into hiding after Death, a former Arcana, turned on them and with a group called the Collective, comprised of Judgement, The Devil, the Hanged Man, the Fool, the Emperor and The Hermit, have disrupted the balance of the planet, causing death and destruction in their wake and incapacitating the remaining Arcana who oppose them.

Full list of Major Arcana: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Major_Arcana

You are the last seven Arcana who survive. Drawn from your hiding by the Magician, whose lover the Empress was doomed by Death to eternal drowning in the bottom of Mariana's Trench, you have embarked on the near-impossible task of suppressing the power of the Collective, rescuing the other Arcana, and bringing balance to the world.

The Last Seven:

Spoiler! :
The Magician: Oliver - Threnody
The Star: - Aria Adams
Justice: Natashia - Dante
Strength: Kratos - Erza
Temperance: Uriah - ReisePiecey
The Moon: Selena - - Niteowl
The High Priestess: Junon Papal - Aquestioning

Create your profile with these guidelines:
Name:
Gender:
Position (Which of the Arcana are You?):
Appearance (Though the Arcana are immortal, their generally appear age 17-30):
Personality:
Powers (Take your cue from what position they are, feel free to research if you want. Keep it limited though, they are a collective force with no one holding insane amounts of power):
Weakness (Though they are immortal, they can still suffer pain and can be incapacitated in various ways) :
History (When and why did you go into hiding, what were you up to before that point?):
Other (Love is a possibility, but it does complicate things - that never stopped anyone.):

This storybook takes place in the modern time, with timeless characters who have witnessed and taken part in many major historical events. They are immortal but not invulnerable, as shown by the schism that wracked their group. During the storybook, I will give cues to what the Collective will be doing, but there is a lot of freedom with which your imagination can wander.

Let me know if you have any questions or suggestions. I want this to be a moderate-highly detailed storybook, so take this in consideration before you create a character.

Name: Natashia

Gender: Female

Position: Justice

Appearance: Natashia has bright white hair and eyes, she often appears in her late twenties early thirties, her skin is smooth flawless coco like skin. She tends to have a very serious look about her, she likes to dress in either very bright colors or black colors. Often resembling Truth and Justice is black and white.

Personality: She's all about the Truth, Logic, and Reasoning, if you lie to her about anything. It's a way for you to get on her bad side, because of this she tends not align herself with others like The Fool, The Lovers. For Human Emotion often obscures the truth, and The Fool is a liar. But others like Strength, Temperance, and Judgement. Her most common alignment being with Strength and Temperance to form an unbreakable shield, and causing Justice to be served around the world.

As herself, she is very clever and her mind is her best asset, though she is gullible and often is tricked by The Fool and is emotionally distant unlike the Lovers. She can be considered in direct opposition to The Devil for there values are completely different from one another.

Powers: She has three abilities one is Karma based, when used, depending on what kind of person you are, and what deeds you have done in the past, can often lead to what her abilities do. The second is the Augmentation of other Major Arcana's powers making there abilities more effective. And third and finally, her fighting prowess, when aliened with Strength and Temperance, she becomes a fearsome fighter for the Major Arcana.

Weakness: As said before, she is gullible and is often tricked by The Fool and his lies, and it was because of The Fool that she has become an alcoholic. Having tricked her into drinking Rum when the Collective was first being formed in an attempt to Incapacitate her, she still managed to go into hiding, but not before becoming addicted to alcohol.

History (When and why did you go into hiding, what were you up to before that point?): Natashia was often doing her Job, whenever there was trial going on somewhere in the world. Her presence would be summoned, during one of the few rare times she had free time to herself. She would often go chat and hang out with Strength or Temperance since they are close friends with each other, but it was during the Powerful Triad of Judgement, The Devil, and Death in Europe, when the Collective was first being formed did she run into problems. Death had sent The Fool to deal with Justice, he had tricked her out of her blade and made her into an alcoholic.

She went into hiding soon afterwords with her alcoholic addiction, and because she does not have her blade anymore. Her logic and reasoning is almost constantly impaired, until her blade is recovered she is useless to the cause.

Other: She isn't the one for romance, so it'll take a lot of work if you want her to truly show her affection for someone.

Name: Oliver
Gender: Male
Position: The Magician

Appearance: He looks in his early 20s and has classic dark features, with unkempt black hair and dark brown eyes. He sports a small pencil mustache. His features are angular and harsh, and his skin is sallow. He gives the impression of being very tired. He is about 5'11 and thin, but possessing a fair amount of strength. He dresses plainly but formally in a in solid pin stripe suit, no tie. The only thing that looks alive about him are his eyes which are still very much as vibrant and calculating as always.
Personality: He is quite good at maintaining a very easy-going demeanor. He gives people a sense of ease when talking to them. He enjoys talking and sharing his life stories and dwells on the past, almost lost in it. He is a natural showman but is not good a dealing with emotions. He is slightly arrogant and enjoys sharing his accomplishments whenever possible. Though he's not a natural born leader, he is very passionate and possesses enough drive to get what he wants. He does not like to talk about difficult things though, and prefers to maintain optimism, even when everything seems as if it's going to hell. He's very intelligent and appreciates logic puzzles and riddles. He is not frustrated easily.

Powers: He keeps a wand on him at all times, though many speculate that it's just for show. He has the ability to craft vivid illusions that affect people in a near vicinity. They are very realistic and encompass all of the senses.
Weakness: His illusions use up a lot of energy and are difficult to sustain for long periods of time. His longing for the past has created a situation in which he is somewhat addicted to his illusions, inflicting them upon himself so he can relive his favorite moments from the past. Sometimes he loses track of what is real and what is imaginary.

History: Since the beginning of history, he has helped humanity by giving them hope. He crafts good dreams in peoples minds and sets their imaginations alight with possibility. Though sometimes the image of success, peace, or survival that he plants in people's head is a lie, the hope that he gives people prevents humans from giving up entirely. After the Collective took power after the Black Death, his ability to inspire hope has weakened as people grew more and more pessimistic. The last straw for him was WW1. Horrified by what humans had done, he sought refuge with his lover the Empress in the Sahara desert, far from the influence of people. Not soon after she was captured by the Collective, he was drawn back into action, determined to destroy them. He fears their power is growing and that they may trigger a series of apocalyptic events.

Other: Not up for love.

Name: Selena
Gender: Female
Position:Moon
Appearance: Appears about 20, with very light blonde hair and pale skin. Slender and about 5'10". Her eyes are blue, but darker than a typical human eye. She dresses in cool colors and wears a lot of "mystical-looking" jewelry.
Personality: Her moods are cyclical, corresponding with the lunar cycle. During the full moon, her powers are strongest and she is outgoing, friendly, and has a borderline-manic amount of energy. By the new moon, she's more irritable and gloomy. Her powers are also stronger in winter and at eclipses and blue moons.

While she's seen the worst of mankind, she's also seen the best, and that makes her optimistic. While she knows bad things will happen along the way, she believes that mortals can and will right their wrongs and create beautiful things. She also doesn't like killing mortals directly. That said, she will send other mortals to do her dirty work if necessary.

Powers: Men are always dreaming, whether they know it or not. Selena can take their subconscious hopes, fears and desires and help bring them to life. She does this through her "special sight", or seeing someone's innermost desires (things they may not even know themselves) through looking into their eyes. She also can induce a trance-like state to bring mortals closer to the dream world. In small doses, this can lead to great inspiration and art (the creatives love her), but over time it creates, well, lunacy.
Weakness: As far as her power goes, she has limited ability to control it. She can decide whether to use it or not, but once it's on, it's on and she struggles to cherry-pick what to bring forth. It also requires eye contact for some time (i.e. she can't just glance at someone and bring their worst fears to life. She'd have to stare for at least 10-15 seconds). Physically, her special sight makes her physical sight weak, so she wears thick rimmed "hipster" glasses. Her trance-inducing abilities, however, can be induced by touch as well as sight and can be effective in just a few seconds.
History (When and why did you go into hiding, what were you up to before that point?): In ancient times, she served the shamans, the mystics, and the oracles, creating the mythology that shaped history. As civilization formed, she served writers and artists throughout the world, often with the World and the Lovers. The Lovers amplified emotions, which made it easier for her to get the best use of her powers. The World gave her stability and gave people the drive to complete the projects inspired by what she brought forth.

After the Collective formed, she stayed in Italy for a bit, hiding with various artists (she especially liked da Vinci). The World talked her and The Lovers into aligning a wanna be explorer and a power-hungry in 1492...that whole "uniting the hemispheres" bit didn't go as well as they'd hoped. So they split up, only occasionally working together. The World was captured in 1914 in Serajevo, so the Moon decided to get the heck out of Europe.

Drawn to the budding silver screen (what better way to bring dreams to life?), she's lived in Los Angeles for most of the time since then. She runs a small cafe and fortune-telling shop. Most of her readings are just mystical-sounding mumbo jumbo, but those in the know ask for "the two buck reading" (she doesn't charge much since she can't guarantee the results) to get a trance and/or a full "special sight" session. Most of these clients are writers and directors.

In 1969, one of her clients almost betrayed her to The Collective. A visit to a whack job in the desert and some "helter skelter" shut him up pretty quickly. She fled LA and met up with The Lovers in New York to make a lot of hippie dreams (and one farmer's worst nightmare) come true. Unfortunately, The Lovers enjoyed themselves a little too much and were captured by the Collective.

Since then, she's returned to LA and runs her cafe, "The Funky Moon". She has a table in the corner that has a "Reserved" sign on it. When people ask why she lets no one sit there, she says "You have to be on the list". Only 6 names are on that list...

Other: She has her pet beasts, Fear and Desire. They were wild wolves when she tamed them long ago. In the dream world, they can roam the dreams of man and inspire both great art and horrific destruction. In the physical world, their bite will send a man into pure madness. Since she tamed them, Selena can control how they appear to mortals. Currently, they're Pomeranians.
Up for love. Or just a good time even.

Name: Uriah (You-Rye-Ah) "Ri (Rye)"
Gender: Male
Position: Temperance

Appearance: Uriah stands at 6"3 and has a very straight-backed posture. His hair is a very dark shade of red (in representation of the red wings worn by Temperance on the Tarot cards), sits in a mess of curls that atop his head, and occasionally falls into his face. His skin is a tanned brown and his eyes are dull green. His face is very sculpted, he has sharp cheekbones, slanted eyes, and has a very defined cupid's bow. His face is usually always set in a calm, neutral expression. He can sometimes resemble a statue because he's prone to extended periods of stillness. He has a really lean, elegant build. His arms and legs are long and thin, and when he walks he seems to glide instead.

Personality: Uriah has a hard time manipulating himself to embody any type of emotion. He doesn't like emotions, actually, because he views them as things that are only a hindrance to the natural flow of life, something to be avoided as not to cause unnecessary complication and conflict. This does not mean that Uriah does not feel, he is no exception to that, it is just that he prefers not to feel, and will suppress any extreme emotions that come up. He does get happy, sad, and angry, but does not feel those things past their most basic and simple form, and does not often physically express those feelings. For example, he does not feel hate, only anger. He will acknowledge that he is being wronged, and will respond accordingly, but will not let his emotions determine his retaliation. The same goes for every situation he is put in.

Powers: Ri has the ability to heal and protect. He can manifest shields and barriers from his "energy". Along with that, he can also manipulate balance, a type of "Yin and Yang". For example, he's able to add good and bad fate, adding dark into the light and light into the dark. He has the power to tip the scales. When the team is in a hard place, Uriah could manipulate a bit of "good luck" for them, or even bring "bad luck" on the enemy.

Weakness: He's not a fighter, not at all, but more of a protector. Because Temperance emphasizes balance and whatnot, Uriah won't be using his Yin Yang ability a lot because it does tip the scale, creating imbalance.

History: Uriah, from the beginning of creating, has been the space in between death and eternal life, whether the latter be good or bad. He's had many names, and most know his as Purgatory, the place you go to be judged before passing on to either The Devil, or salvation. When The Collective first formed, Uriah refused to pick a side. He had a job to do, and because of that job he has a strong connection to both Death and The Devil, which is something that could not really have been avoided considering that Temperance takes a soul directly from deaths hands and leads them to The Devil, should that be necessary.

Temperance went into hiding around the same time people stopped believing in the afterlife. It was "The Age of the Atheist" as he likes to refer to it, when people stopped believing that there was anything more after death, and also when many started to believe in immediate reincarnation, the idea that you will reincarnate despite what you've done in your physical life. He had to lead more and more souls to The Devil, and hear the still living people discuss reasons why his existence could not be true. He became frustrated and angry with the human race and went into hiding.

When the "war" started, Uriah did his best to stay out of it. It was none of his concern and entirely not his problem what the other Tarot's were doing, as long as they did not interfere with his maintenance of harmony. It was not until the Collective sent Judgement to interfere with Uriah's work - tipping his scales towards imbalance, not following Temperance's orders on where the souls should go, and just generally creating conflict - that he became personally offended and decided to join the Arcana.

Other: He tries to meditate at least three times each day. Will turn down romantic connections before he will accept them. You'd have to prove yourself to be someone special before he re-configures his personal balance for you.

Name: Junon Papal

Gender: Female

Position: High Priestess

Appearance: She looks to be about 25, but in reality, she is a lot older (of course.) She is quite tall, about 6 foot. She has jet black hair that reached down to the small of her back, which is always braided. What is unusual about her, though, is her face. She cannot move it, and it is smooth. It doesn't feel like skin. Some call her 'The Faceless Porcelain' because of this aspect. Although it does feel like porcelain, she is not faceless. Her eyes are closed, but there are tattoos of eyes on her eyelids, which makes it seem as if her eyes are open. Her mouth is always set in a smile. She has high cheekbones and a small, narrow nose. She has no eyebrows. Her temples are very defined. She looks like a statue, almost perfect. She has pale skin to match the statue of a face.

She wears a blue dress that is form fitting. She is quite fragile-looking. The dress she wears is quite fascinating in itself. It has two forms, and that is the only way you can tell her moods: Sea-Foam and Mirror. Sea-Foam is almost all white, but from the corner of your eye, you can see it move along like the wind catching waves and sending the crashing onto a Cliffside. Mirror is the exact opposite, with jet black stripes running down the dress mixed with dark blue and specks of yellow. It flows when being stared at directly, but does not move in the corner of one's eye. The black stripes blend in with the blue like water and the night sky meeting each other on the horizon.

Personality: She is very calm, serene. In fact, one might say that she expresses no emotion at all, because of her unmovable face. However, the one way to give away her emotions is through her dress. Whenever it is Sea-Foam, that means that she is content. Whenever it is Mirror, that means that she is not. It does not change rapidly, and it is hard to understand emotions from only a dress. In truth, she has deeply complex emotions, only that she cannot express it from her face. The dress only partially expresses it, and it is hard to decipher what mood she is always in, because it is not always the same.

Powers : She is a Seer of Truth. She can delve into the Past and peak into the Future. She is also an empath, and can tell others true emotions from that. She can speak to people through her abilities, but only if they open their mind to her.

Weakness: She cannot speak, given her face, and using her empathy is extremely wearing on her, for it requires more strength than her sight. She usually ends up writing or something along those lines. Also, the Future is embedded with the evil of the Collective, so it can lie to her and she would not know the difference.

History: Ever since the beginning, Junon and Fortuna (Fortune) were good friends, seeking to help each other and humanity with their powers. Those two kept away from the others, for they were different, even to their standards. Junon had the Porcelain Face and Fortuna had no eyes. However, their powers were the most sought for, both by other Arcana and humans. Their powers were risky but the possibilities were endless when they were used correctly together.

Junon stopped supporting the humans whenever manmade machines attempted to gather her power, fruitlessly of course, but it was the notion that proved to be too much for her. She kept in touch only with Fortuna, but even stopped training with her, for fear of what the humans could do with both of their power.

Little did she think that her fellow Arcana would turn on her. The Collective, as they're called, went for Fortuna first, expecting to find Junon with her. Junon, at the time, was not in touch with Fortuna, and did not realize that she was captured until word got to here about the entirety of the Collective's actions, of how they imprisoned their fellow Arcana, including Fortuna.

Her dress has never again turned Sea-Foam.

She now spends her time hiding from the Collective in various places around the world. She moves fast, and without any cause, just to keep them off of her tail.

Other: If she were captured, and her power were to be used with Fortuna's in the right way, it would be incredible dangerous and well, not recommended.

She is not up for love. She does not trust the rest of the Arcana enough.

Name: goes by Jaime
Gender: male
Position: the Star

Appearance: He's tall and thin, with sharp facial features and light hair he never cares for doing much. His eyes are dark, in between of green and blue.
He has tattoos over his ribs on the left side, with symbols and words telling of the times all the Arcanas were still together, and he tends to have a lot of other words and numbers written all over his body - usually those information/memories are written in a way only he can really understand, in abbreviations and symbols and so to save space.

Spoiler! :
Image
More or less.

Personality: Jaime has no trust in his powers and in the Arcanas all together. He does know of how powerful they were in the past and how much they've influenced the world, yet he's no longer optimistic and full of hope for the future. In fact, he's been seeing people misuse their second chances all too much, and he doesn't want to give them anymore. However, he's more than aware how easy it is to make him care about someone, hence he avoids spending too much time with same people - or people in general. He doesn't really interact, except when he has to, especially not on some deeper emotional/personal level, but he will always help a person in distress if he can (he's good at heart, one could say). Unlike most of the others, he prefers hiding in plain sight, acting as a normal human and part of the community, but always traveling and never staying at one place for long enough for them to notice he's not getting any older.
He's an artist, a writer, and publishes under many pseudonyms. He also loves fire, and anything involving it, and he's more often than not a sarcastic and cynical person who likes to be in control of the situation. When so the situation demands, though, especially women, he'll act as a gentleman, and protective towards children.

Powers: He has four of them, each coming with bigger consequences. When he concentrates, he can make the thing he wishes become real. He can make anyone do as he wishes by his voice/writings/music, and he can take away (bad) feelings from another person, leaving them with more optimism and hope. He can also turn back the time to give a second chance, repeat something happening in another way, but he can only turn time back for thirty hours and one minute (no more and no less). All of his powers work best in the nighttime (especially when it's a starry night), but he dislikes using any of them.

Weaknesses: If he creates an object using his magic, he can't tell for how long the object will exist - sometimes, it stays there for years, but sometimes it disappears after a few minutes. As he uses the other powers of his, he gets connected to the person controlling/helping after a while, and if it takes too long, he can lose himself. When taking the unwanted feelings from others, he eventually starts feeling them himself - and when he loses all trust and hope in himself, he tends to become dark and mean and even suicidal.
Due to constantly shifting time to give people opportunity to correct their mistakes in the past, his memory likes to play tricks with him, hence he tends to always carry a pen and write over his skin to be sure he'll remember stuff later. When he does it, also, he's the only one aware of what has happened the last time, and he can never predict the outcome.

History: Jaime never liked to interfere, despite of his powers allowing him to. If he did give people second chances, he never told them about it, and he never made the things go differently.
Back in the days, he was the closest to Sun, and the one she trusted most. He was something of older brother to her (though he wasn't necessarily older, but he looked and acted like it), and they were almost always seen together. However, he also accompanied Death, often representing the opposite who keeps the balance.
He's always had and still does have respect for each of the others, and he finds it hard to think of them as of enemies, even after everything that happened.
Even while they were still gods and in control of the world, he liked mixing with the people and he enjoyed observing them. When the Collective separated from the rest of them, Jaime did all he could to reverse it, change it and bring them back together, but it was too late to change anything. He left with Aurora (Sun) and "hid" among people, watching over both of them. She, unlike him, wanted to keep helping people and believed in the world having potential of being better place, and he let her convince him to call for and talk to Death once again and try to make him change his mind. Jaime did, numerous times though for others it only seemed like once, meeting him on a ship. It resulted in hundreds of others on the ship dying (they blamed the ice and whatnot in official explanations), and Jaime having to pick between coming back to save at least some and stopping Death from taking Sun away. He went back over and over again, changing it so many times he didn't even know which one was the original version, but he found no way to make both situations end well - following Sun's pleading, he let go of her in the end, and did manage to reduce the number of casualties on board, but he never forgave himself.
For a long time, he was lost, not even trying to keep track of his own memories, until he met Oliver (Magician) again after many years. Jaime was around when Death doomed the Empress, and it felt like history repeating itself to him. He tried to redo it, going back again and again, seeing countless possibilities but in the end figuring he could only make it worse, and finally he went back one last time and let it all happen without him around. He never told Oliver about it, nor he's planning on telling either of them how small he thinks the possibilities of final peace are.

Other: He's up for love, though he's very careful with whom he cares about. In fact, he will act quite flirtatious when it suits him - when he's not sulking about past or something.

Appearance:- Tall about 5.5", aged 15. Medium and athletic build. He had sift black hair cut in a jagged manner and has chocolate brown eyes, has a well sculpted face with most of the baby fat gone. A pert nose sits atop a pair of full lips. He wears a stud on his left ear which is connected with the clasp style one that he wears above the stud, with a fine chain. He has a vertival wave like design drawn on his right cheek most probably by himself. His mus ular torso is covered with a sleeveless black vest that complements his tan body. His arms are bandaged till just below the elbow. His strong agile legs are covered with baggy pants that ends just above the ankle. He mostly wears his worn out red converse and wears a cloak over it all which also has a hood. The edges if it are rugged and jagged. He also wears a pendant of a feather, fang and crystal dangling from the same loop.

Personality:- He is a very cheerful kid who is not at all bothered by the fact that he is the youngest of the group. No one will be able to tell how he really is at first sight. His eyes usually appear to be closed but he looks very menacing if he fully opens his eyes and can even look intidimating if he wants. He is overall a cheerfull hapy go lucky type of kid but could be serious and intelligent during battles and in times of crisis ad danger. Thes is more to him than what meets the eye.

Powers:- He prefers using his physical strength and fights mostly using custom made weapons that he himself made. He rarely uses his powers. His physical strength is insane! He mostly uses the strength pulse which only he can use. He sends pulses through the targets body by touching them. This either weakens them or strenthens them..it all depends on him....also he can absorb someone elses power this way or even amplify their abilities. The weapons that he uses are high quality guns that uses glass bullets and double edged poison knives. The bullets are filled with is essence...the glass will shatter when it comes in contact with the target and the essence scatters around them draining them of all their power and strength. They could even be used as bombs if they are thrown with great force. The knives are coated with a poison that activates when it comes in contact with blood. He is a great team player....he is ambidexterous as well. Also he does not give a damn about defence. His bandages can deglect most power based attacks and he uses his earring and pendant as power reserves.
.
Sterength:- His weapons. He absolutely loves to use those bulle-bombs of his. He hates to use his physical but he could easily knock out at least two persons without using his powers at all. Also shooting and close hand to hand combat is totally his style and strength.

Weakness:- He hates flowers and pollen can cause some allergic reactions due to which he could go partialy blind or catch a cold...lol.....he hates crowdy places due to instances of getting ambushed by fangirls in the past...also he hates to take orders but does everything that you request him to do..that can make him quiet a nuisance during battles.

History:- He at first went to china to hide and maybe learn something from the monk people but he felt that they were too weak and so he went to the desert of India. He stayed there for quiet a lot of time during which he swallowed the forever stone by mistake...it was an ancient artifact that enables a being to remain as they are..they would not age nor become old...they would stay the same. And it activated when he was in a 15 year old body, practising some old spell that had surprisingly worked. The stone is behind his right eye. He has a design of a vertical wave like calligraphic line below the eye. He is stuck in that form. But after many years through training and experience he can come back to his original form of twenty but only for a day tops.

Never catch him by surprise he could box you out fo the window...
