"They said it was an accident," Lissa said softly, though she still didn't think she fully believed it. But she had to have hope that they were really trying to find a way to send them home because if they weren't they were stuck in this void.

"And if there really are dangerous creatures out here, maybe you shouldn't be yelling," she tried to warn gently.

Zeda growled. "I can handle dangerous creatures. I'm like the god of dangerous creatures."

Dima shook her head. You're nowhere near that, Zeda.

He huffed. "That's what they called me back in Sparta!"

She sighed. They called you a lot of things back in Sparta.

"It really was an accident. One which can bring dangerous creatures from places you might not have seen before so even if you are good at fighting them, please don't take that for granted."

“Will you at least warn us if they’re near?” Lissa asked.

"We were planning on doing that."

Zeda sighed. "Forgive me, but I don't really trust your plans right now."

Dima stepped forward, gave her brother the sweetest smile, and proceeded to smack the back of his head. Stop it. Play nice.

He spluttered. "DIMA!"

There was unrestrained laughter from the darkness before the sound of a slap echoed through the room.

"Sorry you had to hear that, " came an apologetic voice.

"And Please. No worries. You are forgiven for that. We wouldn't trust a random voice in the darkness that shows no real proof either."

Zeda rubbed the back of his head, more annoyed and disgruntled than in any pain. "So, how about you come out of the darkness?"

Dima sighed again. She would love nothing more than to apologize for her brother, but the three voices were out of reach of her influence. And she certainly wasn't going to risk speaking aloud. She settled for waving at the sky in what was hopefully an apologetic way.

I’m not sure they’re even physically here, Lissa thought to Dima.

Dima hummed. They're not. I can't feel them, and my presence is too broad for them to be here. My guess is some speaker system. She turned to Zeda. Hey. They're not here.

Zeda turned to her. "Huh?"

They're not here.

Zeda frowned. "What do you mean they're not here?"

They're not in this room. Can you feel the electrical current of a speaker?

"That's an ironic line," replied the voice. "Well, give it a second. We'll be there. We've just got to ensure no one dies instantly from that. Casual problems you see" There was an awkward laugh from the distance.

“Well, we-“ Zeda gestures aggressively to himself and Dima. “-can’t die.”

Zeda. May I remind you there are mortals in our midst?

Zeda shushed her. ”Not my problem.”

"You aren't the only ones here."

Zeda took a deep breath. “Okay. What makes you worried that you’ll kill us? Does your arrival come with a massive surge of magic? Because I can easily consume that.”

"Not quite. It could accidentally trigger the instant kill switch. We're trying to turn that off."
