The lot had finally settled into the car, Kate driving, Liberty in the passenger seat and the family of three at the back.
"So, what's been up lately?" Kate said awkwardly, hoping to start a conversation so she wouldn't have to live through silence for the entire one hour ride.
In a few minutes, Katie pulled up to Liberty's house. "Here we are." Liberty announced, hopping off and walked into the house with the rest.
The house was huge. It was a magnificent Victorian building. The inside was decorated with antiques and a maid suddenly rushed out from the kitchen. "May I get you anything, madam?" she asked, bowing her head at the guests.
"The guests will be in the family room. Tea and cookies should do good." Liberty replied, and the maid rushed away.
Katie, Richard, Phoenix, Susan, and Liberty went farther down the corridor and it opened up into a big room, the size of a normal apartment. There was a flat screen TV, that took up most of the left wall, couches around there. And there was a bookshelf that covered most of the right wall. Reading lamps and comfy looking chairs were around there.
Right as everyone sat down, they heard the front door open and a little boy chattering away. Blake and his father - Nicholas - entered the room. Nick was a bit surprised to see guests but smiled anyway. "Good afternoon." he said, nodding at both parents and smiled at Susan.
Blake grinned at Susan. "Awe you the giwl at my daycawe?" he asked. Liberty and Nick laughed.
Susan shied away from Blade hiding behind Phoenix's leg pulling on Richard's sleeve her eyes large. "Who dis dat boy?"
Leaning down Richard began to explain. "That's Blake, his Liberty's son, I'm sure his a nice boy, now go say hello." he gave her a gentle smile and watched her walk up to Blake her cheeks puffed out with the cutest pout.
"Hewo." She said stubbornly.
Phoenix couldn't help but laugh her motions just like hers. She then looked towards Nicholas reaching out with her hand to shake his she introduced herself. "Hi I'm Phoenix."
Nicholas outstretched his hand, and shook Phoenix's. "Nice to meet you." he said politely.
Liberty grinned at Susan's behavior. "You might have mistaken her for someone else, Blake." she told her son, ruffling his hair. He grumpily looked up at her with his blue eyes he got from his mother and patted his brown hair down.
The maid entered the room and brought the cookies and tea. She quietly left. Liberty thanked her and turned back to her guests. "Tea? Cookies?"
Turning away from Blake Susan ran over the the table and reached for a cookie. "Wum cwookie." Before the put it her mouth her father gave her a hard stair.
"What do you say?" Richard asked her.
"Thwank you." She said quickly then began to nibble on her cookie.
Phoenix turned to look down at black then back at Liberty. "He looks just like you, and even acts like you too." She let loose a small laugh.
Nick and Liberty took a seat opposite from Richard and Phoenix. Nick and Liberty blushed at the question. Blake was prodding Susan with a toy and playing wih her, on the opposite side of the room.
Nick started, "It was pretty dramatic, to be honest. She was being bullied in high school - she was in grade nine, and I was in grade ten, on the soccer team."
Liberty giggled. "A bully - Xavier - was about to punch me and Nick came out of nowhere and tackled Xavier to the ground, even though they were best friends."
Nick shrugged casually. "It was worth it though, and since it was the end of the school year, I escorted her back to her house and yeah. That was it. We started talking, became friends, etc." he laughed.
Libery smiled, offering both Phoenix and Richard a cup of tea and taking a sip out of her own. "How about you guys?" Nick nudged her ribs accusingly. She ignired him, and patted his knee. "How'd you guys meet?"
