I think I would like to join this, but I'm a little confused as to how this "battling" works. Are are there multiple blood poets, or just the one for each side? Or are people competing to be the one?

@Fortis:

The two nations Penine and Marla are at war. As the battle approaches, both sides hold tournaments to elect a blood poet to fight for their side. Our characters are these blood poets, hoping to prove themselves against the other blood poets of their nations so that they might fight for their people.

They're going to be competing to be the blood poet of their respective country. For example, the character I submitted, Rava, will want to represent Marla, and I suppose will be competing against other Marlans.

What Lumi said! The poets will initially compete against their own nations for the right and any who lose will pay the blood tax and no longer have a claim to being a blood poet. The one surviving poet will be announced as the nation's blood poet and will fight for their people's survival in a final battle with the other nation.

During this time there will be feasts and festivities to celebrate the two nations' existence up until now. Both sides will attend and important people of other nations will travel to witness the 'war'.

@Avalon Sure thing, I'll keep an eye out for you coming online!

This looks so awesome. Now if it only didn't require actual poeting, I'd be totally in xD

Can I be someone's assistant? Like a poeting squire who just fails at doing it him/herself but on occasions blurts out some words which even seem worthy? xD

I'm kidding. I'll consider it, Audy, but poetry is kind of scary ._. I shall follow and stalk this, though xP

You could be a diplomat from another nation who has come to watch? Or even one of the leaders of either nation who has no real control over whether their people will survive or not.

Ooh, that would be interesting o: Can I be a child of a leader, who'd like to become one of the Poets too (and can't really pay for being bad at it because s/he's the leader's kid, but can't compete either - again, because s/he's the leader's kid)?
S/he could follow people around a bit and nag to be an apprentice, not really according to anyone's wishes, or sneak in as a contestant or something xP
