The Edge

I'm lost at the precipice
the edge
of the harrowing cliff
and I can't see the bottom.
maybe something great
is below me,
or maybe
I
just might
fall
into
the abyss.
I won't know
unless I jump--
but, too late
I'm already falling,
it's already
all in motion
it's been pushing me here
for a long long time.

jello

getting up and moving
has been a struggle, a challenge
i feel permanently encased in jello
in my same tired body
and the ugly skin I've always worn
wondering if things will ever change
or if i should just be like sisyphus
and learn to accept my fate.

The Summit

Almost there -
it's in reach.
but i'm cold and tired
(moreso than I ever thought I could be)
and wondering why I set out at all.
it's too late to turn back now,
but then,
there will still be the whole way down.

The End

But not quite the end?
I don't believe that anything
ever really ends in life;
it just keeps growing
and changing
and evolving
until one day
any shreds of our former self
is nothing but a memory
until
something
someone
resurfaces what you thought was gone.

miracles

call me an eternal optimist
but i still believe in miracles
and the inherent goodness
of the world. i believe
love will prevail
and everything
will turn out right
in the end.
call me naive, but i have to believe
otherwise i'll go insane

good enough

lately,
i've been taken with the feeling
that all i'll ever be is good enough.
good enough to float through life,
unnoticed,
living.
maybe living is enough,
but what i desire
is so much more
and i'm stuck with a lot of ink blots
in my ledger; reminders of past mistakes.
since i'm stuck with me
for the rest of my life
i'd like to think it's not too late to start over;
to be a good person
and for my dreams to come true.
i don't want to just be good enough.

lately,
all I can think of
when it comes to my life
is how it's been filled
with broken promises
and rejections.
i wonder if anything
i was ever told
was real
or if it was all just a lie.
i don't hope anymore,
i just think i'm one of those people
meant to wander the planet alone.
