Ashanti couldn't hold back the smile on her face as they walked the thirty miles down to the ships. Rafi had been silent the entire trip, simply gazing ahead with wide, amazing eyes as he thought erratically. A jaguar and a tiger! It is unheard of! Can they even mate? I mean, I know a lion and a tiger can, that's called a liger, but what about a tiger and jaguar. Would it be called a... tiguar? Rafi shook the thoughts from his head.

Ashanti leaned on Simon as they walked, the two nuzzling one another lovingly. It was three in the morning when the reached the ship, so obviously no twoleggers were awake. Ashanti followed Rafi as he led them down to the cargo hold. As they searched for an empty box, Rafi shoved them all into a corner, shushing them.

"So, the captain wants to leave at six in the morn. Everyone should be wakin' up pretty soon, and then we'll head on out. He apparently had to have these animals there by Tuesday." The two sailors started up the stairs, all three animals letting out a sigh of relief.

Rafi used his apposable thumbs to crack open the largest crate, exposing loads of hay and space. Ashanti was the first to step in, finding her comfortable spot with ease. "Are you in here as well Rafi? There's plenty of room." Ashanti insisted, smiling sweetly.

"It's alright sweetheart." Rafi smirked. "I've got a beautiful babooness down the hall awaiting my return." He smiled, and after Simon walked in, closed the door of the crate.

Simon got settled into the box next to Ashanti, as Rafi jogged to his females crate. "Wait hold on!", Simon uttered as he opened the door to the crate, and ran after Rafi. "Simon, where are you going?", Ashanti shouted, wondering why Simon had gotten out in the first place. Simon ran after Rafi, just before he turned the corner.

"Rafi..RAFI!",he called out, urging for him to listen. Rafi turned quickly turned around. "What do you want?",he said. Simon walked up to him. "Thanks....thanks for coming back. I owe you." Rafi gave him a quick smirk. "Go back to your crate Simon." Simon smiled and turned around to go. Rafi, got into his crate, quickly shutting the door. Simon walked back to his crate, but was quickly startled by the noise behind him. He hid behind the stairs, as he noticed a human, walking down them.

"Change of plans, boss man wants these things out in less than thirty minutes, got that?", the man said as he yelled into the radio. Simon's eyes got big, and his heart started racing. Then, every light on the ship shut on, lighting up every box, crate, window, and ramp. "Oh no....Ashanti.", he said. The human walked off and Simon darted off to the crate. The ship let out a humungous roar, as the engineers rang the siren. The motor sprang to life, as it started its engines to depart. Simon ran as fast as he could to return to the crate. The vibration of the engine knocked Simon on his side. "Ahh!", he shouted as he tumbled across the deck.

"Simon...where are you!", Ashanti shouted, not knowing what was going on from inside the box. "Alright lets get this baby going!", said one of the deck attendants. The ropes were cut lose, the gate, was opened, and the ship was off.
"I've seen your heart, and it is...mine."

Ashanti paced back and forth in the crate, her eyes wild. What if something happened to him, what if... what if he fell off the boat?! Calm down... he's Simon. He'll be fine. Believe in him, he'll be alright. Her mind soothed, Ashanti's breathing slowly steadying. The light seeped into the crate through the holes in the top. Maybe... maybe Simon was in Rafi's crate, hiding like he should be. Ashanti, assured with the thought, laid down. Her heart still raced a million miles an hour, but she slowly calmed, her breath falling in calm, steady breaths. Her mind, however, was still buzzing, and her heart was aching for the warmth she so deeply craved to be next to her. For the one she loved to be next to her.

Simon hid beneath the stairs, watching with wide eyes as the twoleggers ran around, frantic with the suddenly ship off. What is Ashanti worried herself to death. Surely, that wasn't possible. She'll be fine, she probably thinks I'm hiding, and that I'm safe. Simon, assured with the thought, laid down and watched, her breathing rough and loud, slowing down to being smooth and quiet as his eyes flooded to a close, his heart wrenching with the severe urge to just go to the crate then and there.

A day later, Ashanti shot from her sleep at the wetness seeping into her crate. "Fill the hole!" A voice screamed, the rushing water slowly easing to a stop. Simon was soaked, head to tail with the salted water as he stayed in his hiding place beneath the stairs, the same place he'd been for over thirty-six hours.

"Sir, we've taken on too much water! How much further do we have to go?!" Another voice shouted, Ashanti's ears perking.

"Twenty miles till port!" From listening to the men, the animals were apparently to be shipped down to South America, then flown over to India, since most of them were animals from those places. The men had also been very generous to the animals in the crates, feeding them heafty amounts of meat. Ashanti, of course, hadn't eaten too much, hoping for Simon's return. The boat suddenly rocked and Ashanti's crate, not having been tied down, slid across the floor, slamming to pieces against a wall. Ashanti shot from the crate in fear, Simon taking this to his advantage. He ran from his hiding spot, and to Ashanti's side. He gripped her scruff roughly in his jaws to steady her on the rocking boat.

"HEY! There's a leopard and a tiger out of their crates." Ashanti growled at the thought of being called by her spotted cousin's name. A leopard. What a fool. Simon however, nuzzled her happily, Ashanti's mood turning for the better soon afterwards. She nuzzled him back, the two bonding yet again.

"Get another crate!"

"There's only one left!"

"Put them both in it! They're going to the same place!" The men closed in, Ashanti shrinking against Simon's side.

"It's alright, just follow my lead." Simon encouraged, nuzzling her softly before padding towards the open crate. The men gaped, amazed as they both settled in the crate, gazing at the men with wide, round eyes.

One of the men gripped the handle on the door the box, pushing to close it, when suddenly a great wall of water sped towards the boat. Ashanti and Simon's eyes were filled with fear, as well as the two humans by the crate. He dropped the handle and sped off as fast as he could, with the other one behind him. There was nothing the two animals could do. They waited in fear as the water wall got closer and closer. Booom went the water, as it splashed onto the deck, sending evey box and crate scattering about. Ashanti lost her footing in the panic, and slipped out of the crate as it was sent speeding through the air.

"Ashantiiiii!", Simon yelled, as she fell out, landing on the deck below. Simon on the other hand crashed on the other side, the crate bursting into a thousand shards. Among the deck many of the humans were running around, not knowing what to do. They jumped and ran over things, just trying to stay out of danger. A flash of lighting hit the boat, as the sky turned dark and the clouds rolled in bringing a storm of the century. The hull was slashed, and started to singe as the flames licked the side of the boat! "Simon..Rafi!!", Ashanti cried out, slipping and sliding on the soaked floor.

Rafi, burst out his crate, closing shutting the door to the crate, sealing his mate inside. Another wave came and this time as large as the other. It slammed on the deck, breaking things, releasing alot of the animals in a noisy frenzy. "Abandon ship!!", the Captain yelled, as he rang the bell, and jumped into the churring water below. All of the other two-leggers did the same, one by one, diving into the ocean below. Simon ran blindly through the rain, calling out for Ashanti...for anyone at that matter, that could help. "Help!..Help!", he bellowed, trying to get a glimpse of anyone, through the thick rain. Another bolt of lighting struck the metal ship, and burst out the lights, setting most of the deck on fire.
"I've seen your heart, and it is...mine."

Ashanti flew across the deck, her claws leaving deep crevices in the wood. No! No this isn't happening! We have to make it! It cannot end here! She pushed herself up, against the rough rocking. Her muscles bunched together, and she flew onward, sliding and slipping across the deck rather ungracefully. "SIMON!" She yowled, running towards the striped figure. The tiger turned, its distinct stripes obviously not those of Simon's.

Ashanti attempted to catch herself and stop to get away, but uneventfully slammed into the other male tiger, sending them both snarling across the dock. He had her pinned down, his claws digging into her throat. "L-let me go! Please!" She kicked her feet out, the tiger's strength too much for her. And to think he seemed smaller than Simon! The fire blazed only a few feet from them.

"What's your name?" Tears of suffocation began to fill Ashanti's eyes.

"A-shanti," she choked, the tiger trying to hold her continuously breaking stare.

"I am Angelo." Did he even realize he was cutting off her air supply. Ashanti just nodded, no longer able to speak. Angelo suddenly grabbed her scruff, dragging her around the fire and to the front of the boat.

"W-what are you doing? Stop!" Ashanti screamed as he threw her down, snarling in her face, as if it was a sign for her to shut up. The last few men on the ship were going around to the spazzing animals, ending their suffering quickly. Ashanti shut her mouth, eyes wide with fear. The tiger snorted, the flames licking around the two big cats. Simon, Ashanti had to find him!

"Is there anyone missing in your little group, if you had one?" The tiger's eyes gazed out over the sea, before turning back to Ashanti.

"My mate." She's said that so strong, so assured as she looked into the tiger's eyes, her eyes hard, yet filled with fear.

"So, shall I look for spots?"

"No," the cat's head whipped to look at Ashanti. "Stripes." She affirmed, her eyes meeting his in a clash of resentment. She dared him to comment on that. The cat nodded.

"Alright Spot, I'm going to help you find him. It's better if us cats stick together." Ashanti nodded, and slowly, obediently, followed Angelo's pawsteps.

Simon struggled to gather balance has he clawed at the deck of the boat. The water hitting im and splashing on him from all sides. He choked on oncoming water, gasping for breath, as he was blinded by the heavy rain. Another crack of lighting hit the deck, sending a rush of energy heading right towards Simon. Wam! Simon lost all balance and was knocked onto the edge of the boat.

The two animals ran along the floor of the boat, dipping and dodging each and every thing that flew past them. Animals, crates, and flames alike, were headed towards them. "Simon!...Siiiimon!", Ashanti called out, totally ignoring the questioning looks from the tiger running next to her. She would have asked what he was staring at, but now was not the time. The thunder roared and the rain failed to let up, as it got harder and harder.

Simon was hanging off of the edge of the boat, gripping the deck for dear life, as his claws dug deeper and deeper into the boat. "Shanti!!!........Shanti!!!", he called out, but the rain and thunder drowned out his voice. A tear rolled down Simon's cheek. Was this the end, he thought. He closed his eyes...Ashanti, Juhi, Rafi......home; everything that meant anything to him was slipping away. He thought about everything he had been through, and everything he hadn't experienced. It was over. His claws started to lose grip of the boat. His muscles clenching, trying to hold on to everything he could. He turned his head to look down, and there it was..the black ocean twisting and churning madly down below.

Another wave came rushing towards the boat, filling Simon with lost hope. The wave struck the ship...Simon's claws let go, his muscles eased. Everything slowed down, as his heartbeat did the same. Simon closed his eyes. Goodbye.

Suddenly a hand reached out, and a rather furry one. It gripped Simon by the shoulder, quickly stopping his decent. Simon looked up. "Rafi?", he said, as he coughed up the water. Rafi was standing on the edge, his fur whipping about in the wind and rain. He wrapped his tail around the rails on on the edge, reaching his other hand out to aid Simon. He gave a great heave of pain, as Simon was pulled upward toward the boat.

Ashanti saw Rafi, bent over the side of the sinking boat, his muscles suddenly tightened, and a mass of fur was visible on the side of the boat. Ashanti, full of hope, ran to Rafi's aide, clenching her jaws around Simon's scruff and pulling back. Simon got a grip, and heaved upwards, between Ashanti and Angelo in a second, with Rafi still sitting on the railing. Ashanti's fur, like everyone else's was soaked and plastered to her body. Rafi was looking around, reading the scene out before him. He gaped, and pointed behind Ashanti, the jaguaress turning around slowly at the loud hiss that sounded around them.

"Hello, kitty." It was him... the snake. The same snake that... that... Ashanti's heart ached at the thought, and her eyes brimmed with tears of anger.

"Amur," Ashanti snarled, glaring at the recovering snake. The only thing left of his injuries were the deep scars on his back. She snarled, crouching down.

"Sssstill misssssing the little kitten, are you?" Amur hissed, his face a picture of pure enjoyment.

"You... you..." Ashanti couldn't even say anything due to the pain in her chest. Instead, she put action rather than words, running forward. She dodged the snakes first strike, spinning smoothly across the slippery deck. He lunged again, and she dodged, their death battle looking more like a dance.

Ashanti rose on her back legs, batting him away when he came at her once again. As he hit the ground beneath her, his teeth grazed her thigh, leaving a wake of venom and searing, immediate pain. Ashanti snarled and pounced down on him, ripping him from her leg and flinging him toward the flames. He contorted his body, mid-air, and landed perfectly before the flames, racing at Ashanti. She snarled, and came down hard when he was close enough, the satisfying snap of a spine beneath her paw. He hissed and slithered away, raising up with the sallible vertebrae he had left. Ashanti smirked, and Amur lunged again, biting her right in the neck. Ashanti, shocked, slid down to her stomach, feeling the venom pour into her veins. "Thisss iss your end, cat. There will be no home for you. Have fun with your little kitten in the afffterliffe."

Ashanti, snarling loudly, grabbed the crooked snake, and with a final heave, threw him to the lapping waves. An odd sound sounded in the back of the boat, assuring the group that.. Amur was no more.

Ashanti sighed and padded back over, Simon's eyes full of dispair. She wasn't going to let the venom get the better of her. "Come here," Rafi sighed, Ashanti obeying. Moments later, the baboon was slowly sucking the venom from Ashanti's wound, after much protest from the she-cat.

Rafi began to say something, but his eyes suddenly grew wide, Ashanti turning to see what he was staring at. She scurried agaist Simon, burrying her head into his soft, yet strong chest. He laid his head on her shoulder, and both braced for the rush of the wave. Rafi gripped Ashanti's tail, and Angelo just... stood there, staring at the three animals, his face a mask of disbeliefe when he looked at Ashanti.

And then, it came. The breath was knocked from Ashanti at the impact, and she held onto Simon for as long as she could. Her eyes opened under water, meeting Simon's desperate ones as he clawed out for her. Ashanti smiled one last time at him, and let out her final breath, eyes closing as she welcomed the darkness, her body spirialing with the current as all of them were hurdled towards land.

Simon opened his eyes underwater, trying to catch at least a glimpse of his friends. His body was constantly flipped and turned as the current of the ocean dared to show no mercy for the animals. He spotted Ashanti a ways away as she was tumbling and tumbling into the darkness of the sea. "Ashanti!", he mumbled, as he summoned enough energy to claw his way toward her. He reached out to grab her, when he turned to see a large, wooden ship crate heading straight for him, pushed along by the wave. He turned to evade the object, but it smashed into him breaking, into hundreds of pieces, knocking him out instantly.

Rafi noticed the incident and became quickly alarmed, as he struggled to swim to his fallen friend. He kicked and kicked, but to no avail, his legs couldn't maintain the current. He lost all hope, and braced for impact.

Suddenly a large cat-like animal soared toward him gripping Rafi's tail, kicking off toward Simon and Ashanti; it was Angelo! Angelo dived down toward Simon, still unconsicous, with incredible speed, taking him by the paw and heading toward Ashanti. They didn't have much time left, the large ship was coming up behind them doing away with everything in its path. They dove deeper and deeper as Angelo spotted Ashanti's body still twisting and turning. With his load quickly getting heavier and heavier, Angelo mustered up his muscle power, diving towards Ashanti and catching her by the neck with his teeth. This was it!

Above the water, the ship, came storming toward the shore, as the clouds released their fury in the form of a large, white-hot, lightning bolt. It hit the ships bow, quickly igniting the vessel and sending it aflame. The flames licked the ships surface as they headed deeper into the ships interior, toward the main gas lines. Angelo and Rafi looked up. Five seconds had passed and BOOOOOOOM! The hue of the water turned from a dark, midnight-blue, to a molten, hot orange.
The four of them were pushed toward the surface of the water and flipped into the air, as the rocky shore roared upward, and the ship, sizzled downward in an attempt to incenerate them completely.
