“Like what?” Thane asked, wincing as she massaged her head. She’d used too big a rush of magic too quickly by pushing it to him, and now she was getting a headache.

"Where are we, what were those things, why did the sigil not work, what kind of sigil did I do... to name a few."

“Don’t know, don’t know, don’t know.” Thane sighed. “Don’t know.”

"I'm sensing a trend here..."

“Really?” Thane said dryly.

Railyn rubbed his face and groaned. "I drew three lines! How could I mess up that bad?!"

“I don’t know,” Thane repeated. “But now you’ve stranded both of us in this—“ she paused. “Whatever this is.”

"Hey, at least nobody can say I didn't try." Railyn chuckled lightly.

Thane did not laugh. She did not find it amusing.

"You wanna try the sigil this time? Might work." Railyn's voice lost some of it's natural laughter. He knew he was avoiding talking about the real peril of the situation they were in.

“Yeah, I’m not exactly concerned about our assignment at the moment,” Thane said, snapping a little. What good would the original sigil do? It wasn’t going to get them out of wherever this was.

"Hey, at least I'm offering up something. I didn't see you particularly excited to do the sigil in the first place."

“Because I’ve never done sigil-work!” Thane exclaimed, sitting up and turning to him in a sudden burst of exasperated anger. “I’ve never been trained professionally in any type of magic, I didn’t exactly trust myself to jump in feet-first!”

Railyn flailed his arms at Thane. "I don't think you get to judge me and my failings if you're not even willing to try!"

He slumped down to the ground and closed his eyes. It didn't change much but it felt better. "You've had no training?"

Thane folded her arms and crossed her legs, staring into the darkness blankly. “No,” she said monotonely.
