As shocking as this may be I have read hardly any literature in my lifetime. But!! There is a series I read called Rangers Apprentice. It's medieval fantasy. But the two great things were that it only involved two unreal creatures and those were only in the first two of 12 books in the series AND there was just about no romance in the first 4 books. In the later ones there was, but it was very little, it was clean, it was humorous, and didn't effect the plot very much at all.

I have never read a book like that, so there is stuff out there. And yes, I do read.

@Messenger, is the protagonist male or female? Cause I'm going to bet male.

Yeah he is. Although there is about an even number of male to female characters.

Try historical fiction. It might make you cringe at first (I'm not a fan of that genres, as you might not be), but there are some great books, like The Book Thief, or Between Shades of Grey. There's romance in those too, but it's not like what you described. The romance in The Book Thief is adorable.

Book Thief! <3 What about books like Lord of the Flies or the Chocolate War? Definitely no romance in either of those.

*Trying to think through what books I've read and enjoyed recently*
Oh, Ender's Game! If there was any romance in there I didn't catch it.

Or I just read Weeping Under This Same Moon by Jana Laiz, also no romance or fantasy and the protagonist is a girl. Basically there are so many incredible books out there; don't get stuck!!

Ooh, and the Lockhart and Co. Series. I have a feeling there might be romance later on in the series, but so far it's really good :D
