It's been a while since I checked the age distribution of YWSers. The last time I did this was probably back in 2010, and if I remember correctly, the average birth year was 1994.

So, I went through and checked it again. To do this, I took the provided birthdays of YWSers who have logged in at least once since December 1, 2013. This netted nearly 2,000 total YWSers, but a lot of people never fill out their birthday field. After excluding these people as well as obviously fake birthdays (e.g., born in 1913), I ended up with 1,230 birthdays.

After all was said and done... the average birth year is 1995. However, the median birth year is 1996 with slightly more than half of all YWSers being born in 1996 or afterwards. The most common birth year was also 1996.

Overall, 55 active users were born in the 1980s, and 68 active users were born in 2000 or later. The rest were born in the 1990s.

Here's an age distribution graph:

And the data:

Interestingly, this means that whereas the average YWSer was 16-17 years old in 2010, the average YWSer is now 17-18 years old. So, the community is greying! Just a little though.

Hope you all find this of mild interest!

HOLY SMOKES. No. No. No. People can't be born in the 00's. That would make me... old.

Anyway, good to know I have 40 unlovable companions on here. :P
