I am dating myself so badly with this example, but!
When YWS went down for two weeks so Nate could upgrade the site, there was this hilarious and awesome storybook on the backup site where everybody played exaggerated versions of themselves (I was a unicorn shapeshifter, for example) and we all had to save YWS Fortress from an evil zombie hoard.
It was the most ridiculous thing ever and I loved it.
A writer is a world trapped in a person— Victor Hugo
Ink is blood. Paper is bandages. The wounded press books to their heart to know they're not alone.
No sure if this is 'history', but there was the time I went onto the YWS chat under the influence of extremely powerful painkillers, due to having some wisdom teeth removed. Pretty sure I just spoke random nonsense to two strangers. I would apologise, but I've forgotten who they were. XD
I think one of mine was back during Apollo, when the site was down a lot, and chat wasn't working, so @Cadi got a pirate pad set up and we went crazy, and there were games and just general loveliness.
Instructors-Greeters Reality Show- in fact, that whole summer! That was the year the new YWS was rolled out and depending on your colour you got an earlier sneak peek. That was also the summer I was made a JM and there was a fabulous radio show that weekend
Bolt singing "Bop to the Top" on the radio show, whenever that was.
Other favourites include the storybook season 2011 (Pokébook, KL, 4c4). Oh, and that one time Snoink got carpal tunnel and we had a massive storybook to save her! That was pretty great
Also, that one day when Nate gave me pink stars

Both my trips to the USA - I've been lucky enough to meet a lot of awesome YWS members. Highlight was probably seeing YWS HQ.
On the actual site? Everything from that time Nate was at camp and I was in charge of YWS briefly (mwahahahaha), late night chats on that pop up chat room which refreshed every 5 seconds, that day I did 67 reviews on a review day, calling the radio show for the first time, the fantasy storybooks that Dono used to run, watching writers like Kylan develop into outstanding poets, having the highest prestige rating (before it got removed), creating the first post your own picture thread and getting to see what everybody looked like, to countless other little things like all the helpful and kind messages on my blog when I was having some bad times.
There's probably loads of things I've forgotten!
