Event Six: Scavenger Hunt

Beg, steal or borrow, but remember, this is about winning, not helping your fellow writer! The old members will have an advantage on this task as they may be able to answer some of the questions without needing to look them up, but I promise you the answers can all be found somewhere on YWS.

This is a test of knowledge and efficiency. A test of determination and love for all things YWS.

Fill out the question sheet and send it in a private message to myself before 11:00am GMT tomorrow.

The Question Sheet

Code: Select all
Easy – All worth one point

1.Who has the highest review count on YWS?
2.In which month and year was YWS established?
3.Who is the most notorious member on YWS?
4.What colour user names did the instructors and greeters have?
5.If I have 2489 reviews, what colour review stars will I have?
6.What is Nate's middle name?
7.Who or what is always present on an official YWS poll?
8.Besides instructors and greeters, what was the third YWS support group? (Hint: It originated before the other two groups and outlived them)

Medium – All worth two points

1.What was the name of the YWS e-zine?
2.In what year was Bartemius chosen as the mascot of YWS?
3.What were the three animals involved in the Mascot wars?
4.What is the name of the YWS renovation project? i.e. the new YWS.
5.Prior to Rydia, who normally ran the Monkeys vs Dragons birthday quiz?
6.What is the address of the YWS backup site?
7.Who are the two legendary warring cliques on YWS?
8.What does YWS really stand for? (Hint: not young writers society)
9.Name five admins of YWS, past or present
10.What was the name of the YWS robot? (bonus point if you also list what each letter stands for)
11.How many reviews were made in August 2011?
12.Who did the last review of the June 2011 Review Day?

Hard – All worth three points

1.What was the final score of the official final round of the mascot wars? (Not the re-match)
2.What was the name of the official YWS blog?
3.Who won the fourth event of the YWS Olympics 2008?
4.Who was the second member to join YWS?
5.If SPEW is a faction of YWS, name three more. A bonus point is available if you can name four. (Hint: they are all acronyms)
6.What was the name of the YWS game in 2008 that required a password to enter?
7.When did Nate die? (figuratively speaking of course)
8.What was the YWS robot's favourite topic of conversation?
9.What colour was the 1001 posts badge?
10.What are the rules of YWS official marriages and divorces?
11.In 2010 who had 261 followers?

Expert Level – All worth four points

1.Name ten known dragon supporters and ten known monkey supporters who have taken part in at least one of the Dragons vs Monkeys annual quizzes or the original Mascot Wars.
2.Who won the Monkeys vs Dragons wars in 2007 and 2008?
3.On which date did Nate announce that the site had reached over 10,000 members?
4.Who was the YWS featured member from January 14, 2006 to January 21, 2006?
5.How many unique visitors were there to YWS on 17th April 2008?
6.Which two large countries has YWS taken it upon itself to invade?
7.Name one place the YWS headquarters have been located.
8.Change your firefox to the YWS persona and take a screen shot. If you don't have firefox, get it!

9.In what year did Nate have the revolutionary idea of displaying YWS on a single page?
10.Who were the winners of the 'most hungry' award in 2007 and why?

Bonus Round – All worth one point

So we're all allowed to be a little self indulgent ^^

1.Which section of YWS is Rydia the Crew Leader for?
2.When YWS'ers ganged together and changed their avatars to pokemon aliases, what was Rydia's?
3.Name or give details of any one prank orchestrated by Rydia.
4.Nate once compared Rydia to a. an elephant, b. a dancer, c. a boxer.
5.Give a unique fact about Rydia – if two people give the same answer, neither will be awarded a point so think outside the box!

Other

This event is not a team event and as such no points will be awarded to the teams. This event is war. It is also love because you have to truly love YWS to scrawl through all the old posts in search of the answers. This event is love and war and there are still rules. Be polite to each other and if someone tells you no, then it's no. Not ask another million times and I'll tell you. Respect the members who don't wish to take part or trade answers. If I get reports of negative behaviour about any of you, it will be an immediate disqualification.

As this event differs from the others, you may all discuss it here. In fact I encourage discussion and teasing, but don't post any of the answers or give clues that are too obvious. Let's make this a fun challenge, yes?

Away you go.

Oh, I LOVED the game mentioned in #6 under the hard section. I spent hours on that thing... Assuming I'm thinking of the correct game.

That was one of my questions as well, though I think I've figured out the rest I had questions about from my list.

Submitted. That was brutal. And I take issue with a few questions, too. Like the Nate one. And the "notorious" one. And the April 17th one - me, Jabs and Pez couldn't find that.

I'm pretty sure that I turned mine in even though I was past the deadline. Would you mind looking over that to tell which me ones that I got wrong? ^^'
