WASHINGTON: Two Bushes better than one, at least on this night

THE NEWS TRIBUNE
Published: April 30th, 2006 01:00 AM

It was twice the fun for members of the White House Correspondents’ Association and guests Saturday night when President Bush and a look-alike, sound-alike sidekick poked fun at the president and fellow politicians.

“Ladies and gentlemen, I feel chipper tonight. I survived the White House shake-up,” the president said.

But impersonator Steve Bridges stole many of the best lines. Vice President Dick Cheney and his hunting accident were targets of his humor on a couple of occasions.

Featured entertainer was Stephen Colbert, whose Comedy Central show “The Colbert Report” often lampoons the Washington establishment.

“I believe that the government that governs best is a government that governs least, and by these standards we have set up a fabulous government in Iraq,” Colbert said in a typical zinger.

I just saw at least an excerpt, thanks to Google. It is HILARIOUS! I'm not sure what my favorite line... I think it has to be the "Tear down this wall!" line. Or maybe the "shiny America." And the intersexual thing was HILARIOUS too! I couldn't believe that President Bush could say that -- complete with a straight face.

See the video.

I don't know... I love it when people laugh at themselves. After all, if you can't laugh at yourself, what can you laugh at? ;)

That sounds like my Advisory teacher...

I totally saw some of that on TV... Bush (real) was taking it and it was just so funny!

I may not agree with Bush, or share his values, but knowing that he can enjoy something like this, the way Canadian comedians have been doing with our politicians for years, it gives me a little bit more respect for him.
