I'm currently waiting in anticipation for my copy of the Red Dwarf Series 2 DVD to appear in the post (I also recently bought Series 1 and watched it till my eyes could take no more). So - to help ease the pain of having to wait - I thought I'd start a thread where we can praise British sitcoms. Even if you don't live in Britain you must have come across at least one by now (if you haven’t then I pity you, I really do).

Favouring quality over quantity (*pokes Friends*) these shows give the best in British humour (*kicks Little Britain*). I listed three of my favourites in the title: Blackadder (incredibly cunning), Red Dwarf (smegging hilarious) and Extras (Andy: ‘Do you even know what SAS stands for?’ Ross Kemp: ‘Special Army Soldiers.’).

So how about it? D’you like British sitcoms? Which are your favourites and what are your favourite moments? Or have you never really seen one? Perhaps you hate and refuse to watch them? Whatever it be, let us discuss.
I wrote the above just for you.

Red Dwarf is legendary. One of the funniest shows ever. I watched it when they reshowed them (was it last year?) and spent many a late hour laughing too much.

It was running on UKTV G2 recently. I caught the last series and a half (which is what prompted me to buy the DVD's).
I wrote the above just for you.

I love red dwarf, black adder is brilliant, but nothing beats dead ringers that is great its basically got people taking the mick of famous people ex: ozzy osbourne and tony robinson, theres another programme called just for laughs that is funny its people fooling around a long ordinary people and they tell them at the end and they all burst out laughing that is really great.

Blackadder and Keeping Up Appearances. I've not watched most of the others. Also I loved Porridge.

Red dwarf is one of my favourites, though I also like Blackadder, Monty Python, Fawlty Towers and others. I quite like Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps as well, though it's not really so much of a classic.

Not sure if Monty Python counts as a SitCom. It's really sketch comedy. Either way, I love it. I've also seen Keeping up Appearances, Are You Being Served?, and My Family.
Please, sit down before you fall down.

The Young Ones! Love it. What's Bottom?

Are You Being Served is funny. And Green Wing is the best ("What does yours say?"..."Let's swap" LOL). Coupling was fairly amusing, as was The Office. Didn't like Extras though. It tried too hard to be funny.

I'm sure I've missed something :-k

Favourites:

Black adder
Vicar of Dibley
Only fools and horses

Least Favourites:

My Family
Are you being served

Keeping up appearances is funny but its in a different leage. A lower league it just is the same aevery week and its all based around the same thing. There is hardley any wit in it.

Monty Python is a sketch programme, but that is funtn however axquired. My mum hates it but me and my dad adore it.
