YWS was started exactly at 7:22 pm EST on November 14th, 2004, making it now only one week old. However, since then it has grown very fast, and exceeded all my hopes for it. Indeed, a week ago I was worried that it would grow too slowly and eventually just die off. But, now my worry is that it is growing too fast, but that's a concern I can live with.

Anyways, thought you all might be interested in some statistics...

As you can see, our members are very active and we are growing fairly rapidly, especially for a brand new website. To keep this up, and to keep the sense of community strong, new features will be added. Contests will start up as soon as we have 30 active members (defined as those members who have made at least five posts), and usergroups will be formed as people request them. Additionally, new aspects of the website will be added with links to magazines that publish young authors as well as a chat room. However, I am also going to be very careful in doing this as the last thing I want is for this site to go to the dogs.

Anyways, hope you all enjoy the stats!

when there's nowhere to go, it's time to grow up.

Yes, too bad it is growing way too quickly. This is a really good site for it to go to the dogs and dissapear.

This planet has - or rather had - a problem, which was this: most of the people living on it were unhappy for pretty much all of the time. Many solutions were suggested for this problem, but most of these were largely concerned with the movement of small green pieces of paper, which was odd because on the whole it wasn't the small green pieces of paper that were unhappy.
— Douglas Adams, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy
