Yeah, they do it without a choice in France and other European countries. It's pretty good, you get a more well rounded and less specialised education. Just depends what you prefer really, I like to specialise because my talents lie in some specific things.

I wouldn't say GCSEs were easy as such, it was just simpler to get on with hard work rather than passion. I HATE maths and science but I still got As. I didn't even get As in some subjects I love this year, it's much more challenging.
I wasn't expecting AS to be this hard!

I was thinking about it and I might just go with English rather than languages for uni ;__; I'm so confused! English is my thing, I love it and I always get good marks without fail, but languages is lovely too. I dunno. I could probably to English and be more likely to get a place and succeed. A language degree is more job-centred if you know what I mean.

My parents what me to apply to Oxford to study English!

I just got my GCSE results over e-mail :D (since no-one's ever in dubai over the summer I don;t get the pleasure of going to into school to collect my results)

I got 6 A's and 2 A*s (in english lit. and history which is what I wanted. YAY!) And I got a C in science for year 11 but oh well it was an A overall for both years and I hate science so :D

I even got an A in maths and french AAAHHHH :D I'm happyyyy. I wont be able to sleep now I'm so relieved!

andimlovegalore: Could you not combine English with a language? I'm sure you could. Honestly, I think you should just do what you enjoy, especially if you're good at it because at the end of the day that's what will make you happiest. So many of my friends are determined to be doctors or vets but they hate science. It just really doesn't make sense to me.

Oxford is a very good uni. I'd love to get in just so i could say I did! Haha. Do you want to go there? Or is it more what your parents want?

Sofi - wow well done =D those are great results. What are you doing next year?

And yeah, it's sort of a combination of them and me, I'm not even sure what I want ^^'' Maybe a combo degree would be good too. You can't do them at Oxford though, I don't think.

Hmm well i guess you just need to look into it properly and in the end something will jump out at some uni that will just make you think 'this is what i want to do' I'm sure you'll be able to figure it out.

it turns out my C was an A because there was a clerical error with edexcel. :D so yay even more haha

next year I'm taking English lit. History, Art and Design Technology :D

Got my results a couple of days ago:

English - A*
English Literature - A*
Maths - A
Science - A
Additional Science - A*
History - A*
Art - B
Graphic products - B
Media studies - B
Welsh Second Language - C

So not bad. Good grades in all the important subjects, so yay! (though I was a bit surprised with Media and Art - particularly as loads of people got A's in Media, who I was generally better than throughout the year. But ah well). So now it's two more years of harder work and more stress - bring it on ^.^

Wow Smurf! Welsh? Sounds interesting :)

We are doing the ICT short course early in my school, and got my results a couple of days back. Got and A*, or 188/200 so I can go on studying the AS next year (or, in two weeks, actually). So pretty good :D

Not really. It's the most useless waste-of-time-and-money lesson that I've ever been forced to take. But not any more ^.^ (yay for free-choice in post-16 education!)

Congratulations on your ICT!
