Writing is why a fictional world is far more fun than the real world.
Unfortunately, despite how drained one may feel after writing many chapters in one day and feeling like you've run a marathon, writing is not a good form of exercise.
Writing is many things. It can free you from reality or bring you down to earth. It can make you laugh or cry, smile or frown, puzzled or aware. Writing is amazing.
Writing is something amazing...words that become pictures...and then, scenes...and then situations...and then, seemingly a life. Amazing.

Writing is the quest, the damsel in distress, the dragon to fight and the magic of light, the loot and quarrel, the sword and spear. And the dagger that is my quill.
