They reset every two weeks. The reason used to be because they had a winner for the most points, but I don't know if they still do that.

And yes, the points are reset to 500 every two weeks. It's not a big deal in my opinion. I think there is some sort of contest, but I'm not really sure.

Aye, they do count for something!

Griffenkeeper uses them to determine the Member of the Week, I believe.

The points are reset to make it easier to count the totals each week for MotW. For a long while, it was a cumulative point system, but the numbers got out of hand after a few months.
