Yeah, I applied for instructor at 250 posts. It's not really a matter of quantity as much as it's about quality. How are your critiques? Do you feel that you can offer something useful to the site?
So really, post count doesn't matter in the least. It's all about experience.

Yes.
The Admins are busy and, depending on which one you PM, can take a while to respond. |

I just have two questions:
1) Why can't you apply to be a mod?
And 2) Why will it "count against you" if you do? Someone may do so by mistake (like me) because they found an old board that said you could. It sucks.  |

1) Because you need to be on for a long time and prove to Nate and Mesh that you do indeed help the website and that you are consistently active. If they make someone a Mod without fully checking them out, then the site could be thrown into chaos. Mods get quite a it of power and it is unwise to just through it about like that. If you apply, it seen as rude alsmot as though you think you deserve the power, which you might but that's besides the point.
2) In your case, don't worry, just explain that and I am sure they will forget about it by the morning. YWS, or in fact, no communities, like people who join for the power.

I know Aedomir replied, but I'll give you my version. ^_~
1) Because being a moderator isn't just a job you ask for it, it is one you are given, and one with a lot of responsibilities. People are chosen for the position and nominated. It is more about what everyone else thinks of you, rather than whether you think you are qualified or not.
2) Well, it counts against you if you say "I want to be a mod!" or "I should be a mod! "or "Can I be a mod?" because being a mod isn't a privilege with shiny stars and all that. It's a job, right down to it. Mods may look shiny and super, but really we just work real hard. It isn't a position for someone who is power hungry, that is for sure. It's for the deserving members, who aren't thinking about just their own position in the forum hierarchy. But, if it is done by accident I'm sure Nate will understand.

I have a question:
As you can see, I am a greeter, but I have been making some really long and indepth critiques recently, and I was wondering whether in a few weeks or whatever I would be able to become an instructor? So in other words - would this involve giving up my job as a greeter, or have two at the same time?

Hello! (Sorry if this isn't the right place for it, but I'm confused. ) I'm fairly new to YWS and I attempted to post my first piece of art today. I went down to "filename", chose the one with my picture, and clicked "Preview". It said that it "Tried to upload an empty file", but I know that the file wasn't empty. Then, I tried choosing the same file, but clicked "add attachment" instead. For some reason, it wouldn't work. I probably wasn't doing it right. Help would be greatly appreciated! |

Was it the right ending? YWS only accepts gif jpeg jpg png tga tif, and that's what happened to me a while back. It just says that the file is empty until you save it differently. (PM me if you need directions on how to do that.)
Also (for future reference,) this should be posted here, the 'Questions' thread.
