I like the idea of a squid, especially the fact that it squirts out ink, very good idea.
Go the squid (well since its obvious that it isnt going to be a horse ) |

Does anyone remeber when I proposed the idea for a mascot months ago, when the YWS logo was to be created? No? Thought so... ::sigh::
I voted for other. Dragons are overused. Im thinking spirits. Im thinking living masses of creation, materialized imagination. Im thinking a chimera-like-chibi-thing that would embody ALL aspects of writing creativity, not just fantasy/scifi/whatever.
EDIT: Name....how about Quillyn? I think its better than Squill. Squill reminds me of an octoupus (sp) Does anyone know the names of mythological creatures/gods that symbolize creation, fertilty, or scribing/writing? |

| Squids represent binding, imprisonment, deception. We need something that would represent endless creation, liberation, imagination. |

Chuck Norris?
I voted monkey. If you give a dragon a keyboard, they'll just destroy your computer. Give a keyboard to a monkey and you'll eventually have Shakespeare's Hamlet.
I rest my case. |

Hehe, have a kangaroo, for originality because that is what writing is, right? We like being origional!
A teddybear is too childish
A chimp would be good
Dragon, ugh... |

How about a pencil with a happy face and sunglasses? I dare someone to make the connection between a writing site and a pencil. That's right. You can't.
I'm horrible at ideas. |

Is there going to be a competition to draw the mascot?
Does Aquill HAVE to be an animal/person or can it be a quill or something? |

There will be a competition to draw the mascot.
I'm gonna skip having a second poll of different choices which I mentioned earlier since, overall, people seem to generally like the suggestions offered. Besides, a squid would be kind of hard to draw, and an owl or pencil or quill is overdone on writing websites.
Soon I'll start up a poll between the top three choices (kangaroo, dragon, and monkey). The winner of that poll will become the mascot. |

VOTE NON-DRAGON OR DIE, PEOPLE!
I'm going to have a hard time choosing between the 'Roo and the monkey. Both would be awesome. |
