Currently I just make a list in my 'Will Review for Food' thread, but I would love something like this!

I second that suggestion. XXD I'll be your best friend! Lmao. Seriously though, I think that's one of the best ideas I've heard of!

I think It's time to add different colored stars, not for me of course, but for the people already maxed out, like suzanne and snoink and well, I'd have to check.

If you do, maybe you should have a poll on what the next color should be, mabye five polls to get all of the colors in!

What are the stars under people's picture and how do they work?

The stars are the amount of critiques you do... the more stars, the more reviews of stories or poems somebody has done. So you can get more stars the more you give out reviews! Very Happy

Oh, okay thanks. Smile

Is it possible to get them taken away?

Oh another thing. Is there anything you can do if someone gives you a review that is nothing but complaints and is utterly unhelpful?

Whatever happened to the notion of interviewing authors?

I remember the one with Tamora Pierce; it was really cool. Did we never try again? Or was she the only one that replied?

p.s Emily Rodda (if anyone knows of her) will be appearing in my Genre Writing Workshop class as a guest speaker, so maybe I could suggest the notion to her then?

I'm sorry if this has already been posted but I think a way to get to a person's profile is that when they post something their name is a link. It would be easier to accese(sp)their profile. Being a newbie and all, I don't know how to go to somebody's profile. Thanks!

Whenever someone posts something, there is a link to get to their profile. It's at the bottom of their post. There's "profile" "send PM" "MSN" and some others. To get to their profile, click "profile"

Another suggestion that I have is that when I enter a topic I can only go back to the page with all the topic links and no further(this is difficult to explain, PM me if you don't understand). I think we should have a link that goes back to the main page without having to click 'back' all the time.

There is. Scroll to the top of the page. There are boxes at the top of the YWS page that say "Home" "My YWS" "Community" "Writing" and so on. Click "Home"

Now that you bring it up, YWS Mobile does need a drastic makeover.

I'm just happy you no longer have the option for it on the computer. >.< That was horrifying. No link to your settings to change it back to normal.

In the NaNoWriMo forum, there are currently four pages worth of postings and topics for two years. While there's nothing really wrong with posting a reply to a post from a year or so ago, I'd like to suggest a sub forum for NaNo 08. if all works out well, maybe we can continue doing sub-forums for every year after? It would organize things a bit better, and if we wanted a thread from two years ago replicated, it really wouldn't be too hard to post a new one in the current year's sub-forum. I don't think making sub-forums is too hard, but I understand it could get annoying, especially when we don't *really* need it, but it's just once a year. I also understand that the list of sub-forums could get crowded, but I don't know what to do about that. Maybe remove the sub-forum after December is over? That gives the postings plenty of time to cool and slow down.

Long and short, have the main forum be for discussing NaNo and strategies and other such stuff, but have sub forums for discussing this year's NaNo. First lines, character names, playlists, etc. They all change yearly.

Thirds the appointment book notion; it really would help!

I was thinking about how people move up the ranks to Senior Writer or something so quickly, with barely any reviews. I'm probably going to regret saying this, as I doubt many people will agree with me, but what about having a certain amount of reviews a person has to do before they get to the next rank, in addition to how many posts?
I know it may discourage others from wanting to get to a higher rank because they don't want to do reviews but this is where the Instructors come in. People who want to get to the next rank post about it in a thread that will be made if they need help. The rest of the Instructors and I look through their reviews and help those who review in the area we normally do. We give them suggestions on how to improve their reviews and work with them til they can do it on their own.
Of course, for those that haven't reviewed at all, we'll ask them to state what area they'd feel more comfortable in reviewing and give them a general outline, hope they follow it, and try to help them if they don't.
I'm hoping that it'll help people get stars quicker, encourage them to review on their own, without being forced, and let YWS have more great reviewers. As jasmine12 just pointed out to me, reviewing also makes people better writers, and (Duh moment here) people are likely to get reviews on what they write from people they've reviewed before.

Does anyone like it or have I just gone crazy? Smile
