I found that for myself and a few others, writing when one is very tired or "half asleep" can yield amazing outcomes. I remember a couple of times i would wake up and go "woah!, did i seriously write that!?"

...and that outcome rendered Samuel Adams having his nipple pinched by another man while thw two were in the same bed, Yep, it yielded such amazing results I laugh everytime I read "Bedridden with Samuel Adams."

I have done as such out of necessity. One such crazed night created this:

What if Beauregard Was a Giant Chicken?

Weirdest thing I've ever written, yet, it placed in a state-wide competition. Rolling Eyes

I've always wanted to do that. I usually stay AWAY from my word documents when I'm having my insomniac nights, though.

I tend not to be able to write late at night. I find more success if I simply shut off my internal, "OMG what is that crap you are writing?" Editor. This often gets shut off late at night, haha. If I can actually write late at night, it is interesting, but only a few pieces are worth saving. It tends to need excessive rewriting the next day.

NaNoWriMo is like that 24/7. Yay! I'm excited already.

I pulled an all-nighter to finish Firebrand, and I actually think it turned out ok.

Until the ending. The ending was a cop-out because I was exhausted and I just wanted to get the dang thing done. The end will have to be extensively rewritten.

I get the inspiration when half-asleep (or asleep... I mean, dreams are wicked sources of inspiration) but I never have the energy to write the ideas down in all their magnificence, so they never turn out the way I imagined them if I write them down then and there. I usually either cop out and it falls flat or it turns out just dull and boring.

Well, that's not entirely true. My humor pieces only ever appear when I am tired. Or at least, the only ones that are ever funny.

I wrote two poems at six in the morning after having gotten NO sleep...? They're kinda cool.

Writing when I'm half asleep is the only way that I can write. It's late at night when I'm most focused, even though my eyes are shutting right now. It's midnight. I need sleep. But this is when I normally write. My day-time writing is suckitude.

Ick. I had a dream about the villain in my story last night. Well, actually it was a totally different person, but her the girl's personality in my dream was scary similar. I totally underestimated how scary my bad guy is until I had that dream...

i had a very weird dream last night about vampire nuns chasing me along a deserted dirt road in the middle of a wheat field. I was driving a recliner...
needless to say, some of my weirdest ideas and inspirations come while I'm half asleep, or totally asleep.

Since i get no sleep at all, i do write half asleep all the time. I actually wrote around two 45 in the morning today and wrote an amazing piece. I hope that i can put it into one of my stories, otherwise, i will just make it a poem

Haha, I should try that!

I usually write when a storm's about to hit (gotta love the inspiration that comes from darkening clouds and fierce winds)

I did write a bit during midnight (novel and a song/poemish thing) and I couldn't sleep until 2:00 am (dang plot bunnies...)
