My first contest. Whoo-hoo-hoo. Inspired by Suz, this is a contest dedicated to the lovely, but unfortunately not strongly enforced rule, "show, don't tell." Meaning, info-dumps are the equivalent of devil-spawns, and it's gotta be action, action, action. Nothing boring the reader to tears.

Rules

1. There should be little to no info-dumping in your story. It should all be something happening.

2. This is going to turn a lot of people off - first person only. I mean, first of all, if your omniscient it would be too easy, and yet, it might have people accidentally narrate everything. Meaning, "The dog walked. The dog ran. It looked like fun."

3. No poems, no horror, fan fiction, fantasy (vampires, werewolves), and no excessive profanity. A couple curses here and there are fine.

4. Word limit is 2,500, but PM me if it's over and I'll see if I'll allow it. There is no minimum.

5. To elaborate, don't have the plot passive. Meaning you have a girl going to the movies with her boyfriend, or a couple people hang out in the woods. Murder? Accidents? Infidelity?

6. It doesn't have to be written for this contest. You could have written it in 2002 for all I care.

7. No rating. But if it's R, try no gore and limited sex scenes, 'kay?

Prizes

First Place: 5 Critiques of your choice, and 500 points
Second Place: 3 Critiques of your choice, and 250 points
Third place: 2 Critiques, my choice and your choice, and 100 points
Honorable Mention: Tissues, Cookies, YWS fame and 50 points.

I will extend sometimes, but don't count on it. A deadline's a deadline, missy. (JFW1415...)

PM me, or you know, reply below, if you want me to elaborate a little more or change the rules around. Have fun!

I'm working on a story almost just like your contest but sadly I'm trying to finish it so it can get published(eventually). Wish I could help.

Sorry,
