Chapter 3
Everyone in the house figured that Alima use up all of her energy cursing at Suoh, because she had fallen asleep upstairs.
"Did she know that was my bed?" asked Suoh as he brought a kettle full of tea to the dining room table. "Did she become psychic or something?"
"I don't think so, Suoh." Alexandra laughed. "I think it was just a good guess."
"Do you three know why you are here?" Cadmus asked Makani, Alexandra and Sara.
They all three shook their heads in unison. Suoh poured the steaming tea into each of their mugs and sat down. Alexandra stuck her nose in the steam and thought she smelled a hint of rose and lavender. She wrapped her hand around it but quickly pulled back, yelping and running to the sink.
"Each of you are different Human Elements."
"Wait, so you mean Makani's one, too?" asked Alexandra, running her hand under the freezing water. She then realized something, like a light going on in her head. "Oh, so that's why you where able to help me at the castle!" Suoh then looked at her with a puzzled look. "I'll tell you about it later," she said, going back to her seat.
"Yes, he's the Air Element." said Cadmus. "And Makani, in case you didn't know, Alexandra is the Water Element and Sara is the Earth Element."
Makani nodded with his head in his hand, deep in thought. "Yeah, see, Alima doesn't tell me much stuff about these sort of things," he explained to Sara and Alexandra.
"So," said Suoh, coming to a conclusion, "all we need to do is let the last hidden Element find us, and we'll see what plays out after that.
"But why can't we look for him?" asked Sara.
"Because I want to stay hidden as long as possible, and if the Fire Element comes, then we'll surely be found. I'm surprised he hasn't found us already, since...uh...you-know-who said she would be in Talbe, which is obviously close by."
"By 'she', you mean Kaida, don't you?" asked Makani, turning to Suoh.
Alexandra furrowed her brows and looked at Makani. "Who's Kaida?"
Makani nodded to Suoh, and flinched as he saw flames dancing in Suoh's eyes. He shrugged it off and cupped his hands around his tea mug, leaning down to see what kind of herb was floating in it.
Suoh sighed and sipped his tea. "I didn't want you to know her name until the time came, but I guess I don't have a choice. She is the Fire Element's Dragon Guardian."
"If she's the Dragon Guardian to the Fire Element, and you guys are our Gaurdians, how come you look human?" Sara asked. Her hand hovered over her mug, and the lavender that was floating in it grew into a beautiful flower instead of a chopped up piece of herb.
"They have the power to change into different forms, though it's limited," answered Makani, not taking his eyes off of the lavender growing in Sara's cup.
"Wait, if Alima didn't tell you anything except that you were the Air Element, how do you know these things?"
"I can read minds," he said, turning to Alexandra, smiling.
"What? How?"
Before Makani could answer, Cadmus held up his hand to stop him. "Every Element," has their own personal power seperate from their main one. Makani is able to control air and can read minds. Sara controls the earth and has the ability to move objects without lifting a finger. You are able to control water and are also able to get visions, and maybe, if the gods choose, can stop them from becoming true if something bad is going to happen. Along with those powers, you also have another ability that is natural for Water Elements--you can heal with water."
As Alexandra nodded, something donned on her. Wait, she thought, if Makani can read minds, then...oh no! Her face grew hot as she looked at Makani. He heard what I said about him back on the path at the castle!
Alexandra heard Makani chuckle inside her head, though he didn't do it out loud for everyone to hear. Yes, Miss Alexandra, I did, but don't worry, I won't tell anyone. His voice sounded soothing in her head, like a soft echoing that calmed her. I can teach you and Miss Sara to keep the Mind Controllers out of your head, because they do exist and can be very dangerous.
She nodded at Makani and blushed, and then turned to Suoh. "Um, Suoh, I had a vision back at the Herb Shop. I was walking in the woods..."
They heard Alima's footsteps walking down the stairs and braced themselves for a firm tongue lashing for Cadmus, since he hadn't gotten his yet. But she just rubbed her eyes, yawned, and took his half-full cup of now lukewarm tea. She gulped it down and looked out the window. It was just barely dark, so she figured she hadn't been asleep that long. She turned back to the full table.
"Well," Alima said, "we have to be getting back now, Their Majesties will be wondering where you had run off to," she said to Makani, and then turned to Alexandra. "Alexandra, we shall see you bright and early tomorrow morning, and Sara, I know the moments are few, but we shall have to find time to get to know each other better!"
"If you'll excuse me..." Makani stood and bowed to Sara and Alexandra, then Cadmus and Suoh. "I had a very pleasant evening with you all." Then he turned and left, followed by Alima.
As soon as they shut the door behind them, Suoh sighed, dissapointed that Cadmus didn't have to put up with Alima. "That's just not right, love," he said. "That's just not right."
