Story research! O, the boundless joys! I am... an unenlightened Catholic. Rather oblivious. Thus I am wholly and sadly ignorant of such things. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

My question for you: in the present day, what, precisely does it take to get oneself excommunicated from the Catholic Church?

Merci, whomever happens across this. ^_^

I think you'll find the following link helpful? Apparently, a female in St. Louis attempted to be ordained a Catholic priest and has been excommunicated. Details, implications, etc. in link

"Modern Day Decree of Excommunication"

And then there are various rumours of politicians being excommunicated for not legislating morally and such; Kerry being a popular one (But I'm not sure if it's factual or just a rumour):

G'luck!

Thanks so much, Leja! ^_^

[I was previously pursuing my research on the Holy See website, but couldn't find a scrap on excommunication - they got all spastic and encouraged me to read the Pope's lovely letter to the faithful in China.]
