Sarcasm is great. One of my expertise. I'm not sure now, I didn't take that as a piece of litterature to be critiqued. Sounded to be you wanted to talk about sarcasm and the pros and cons that come along with and everyone that replied gave you grammitcal correction. Correct me if I'm wrong.
But I'm going to respond in a manner no one else seems to have. Seeing as how we're in a NON-FICTION forum.
Sarcasm can be used in just about any case dependent upon the seriousness of the situation. But most situations in our lives are not too serious. People that think sarcastic people are arrogant need to look at themselves. I've been called arrogant a lot for the way I act and what I've said, but I have never judged those which I have spoken to. So tell me who is right? I realize the potential in everyone and I generally like everyone I meet. So to the ones that are not sarcatic, please don't call us sarcastic people names. We're more lighthearted than you seem to understand. Sarcasm to me shows a point of confidence as well. It's saying I know exactly what you are talking about and a little bit more so I'm going to mess with you a little to see how much you know.
I love you non-sarcastic people, but you sarcastic people----I'm infatuated. |

The first thing I thought of when I read this through was "get rid of the time structure" meaning, it doesn't matter what ages you or your friends were and when you were those ages, and how long ago people told you these things, etc. The point isn't to create a detailed timeline, the point is to get across the point you're making, which is to show the uses of sarcasm.
This essay seemed to go off in a lot of different directions. You discussed liking sarcasm and learning/not learning sarcasm, etc. but what are you ultimately trying to say? How does each paragraph bring you from the beginning to your final point?
Also, for an essay about sarcasm, I didn't see any sarcastic remarks anywhere! I found that to be the most sorely lacking of all. |

Nice writing. Sarcasm isn't my specialty or anything but I do try. Haha. I don't really mind sarcasm unless if someone goes over the top. Like, just one comment after another...unless if it's "in the moment"...hopefully you know what i mean...?!? 
I can't really critique because everyone who commented already did. Sarcasm-to me- is another form of a joke. Some people don't like jokes...I don't know I'm just typing more and more words.

Ah sarcasm, my second language. I agree with you on almost every point here. I don't think i was born to it, but maybe molded slowly. Sarcasm is indeed a form of defense and I think I would say it usually is. It's both something to be proud of and something to try to curb. What a slippery fish it is. I do like this little piece, and I think you've expressed it in a way most people can understand and relate to. Well done.

| I liked this essay and I agree with your point too! People seem to think sarcasm is inherently bad. It's true, people can be sarcastic and hurtful, but not all sarcasm is hurtful. It's kind of like a knife-it can be useful in and of itself, but you can also use it to hurt people. |

| This was great! I think sarcasm is something you're born with and that it isn't brought out in one until one reaches middle school! |
