Trick-or-Treat?
Characters:
Lindsey: Lindsey is bossy and controlling, she persuades people easily. She is competitive with people and always has something to say back. But she is kind to her friends, MOST of the times.
Sara: Sara is bubbly, energetic and funny. She’s very loud and dimwitted and does not know how to stand still.
Maggie: Maggie is a calm cool decision maker that speaks her mind. She doesn’t usually like to go wild in public but when she’s with her friends there’s no stopping her.
Lily: Lily is calm and quite but is sometimes energetic when she is out with her friends. She usually agrees with anyone and rarely speaks up for herself.
Halloween night four girls are walking down a deserted street trick-or-treating; they’re all walking side-by-side giggling at Sara who is doing cartwheels. They’re holding one bag of candy each, except for Lily, who is holding Sara’s.
SCENE ONE:
(The four friends are out trick-or-treating. Comparing what candy they got when things start to get boring.)
Lindsey: Maggie, how much candy do you have?
Maggie: (checking in her bag) Let’s see, um… 5 bags of chips, about 15 pieces of candy and like 6 bars.
Lindsey: (giggling and grabbing a bar from Maggie’s bag) Make that 5! What about you Lil?
Lily: (Checking one of the 2 bags she was holding) Wow, I didn’t know I had this much! I got a lot. Like, 20 bags of chips and about 10 bars and…
Sara: (Cutting Lily off) Wait! (She stops doing cartwheels) let me see that for a second, (walks over to Lily and checks bag) that one’s mine. (Takes bag from Lily) That one is yours. (Points to the bag with less candy in it)
Maggie: How did you get so much candy? We all went to the same houses; don’t tell me they favour you.
Sara: Maybe they do, maybe they don’t. Maybe I stole it… (Opening a chocolate bar)
Lindsey: I knew it; I knew I had less candy in my bag then before, you probably swiped it when I laid it down to fix my tail. (She pointed to her fluffy white bunny tail)
Maggie: Lindsey, don’t be so quick to point your finger at people, remember what your mom said? (Maggie grinning)
Lindsey: Shut up! (Hitting Maggie with the back of her hand)
Lily: (Looking curiously at Lindsey) What did your mom say, Lindsey?
Lindsey: Nothing, anyways, that’s not the point. Sara, where did you get the candy?
Sara: (Taking a lollipop out of her mouth) From the coat closet. There was a whole bunch of boxes of candy and stuff, so I took it.
Maggie: Sara?
Sara: Hmm?
Maggie: Don’t you think that was there for a reason, Sara?
Sara: No, unless you mean for Halloween, but my mom said that she put all the candy in the coat closet… oh, right.
Lindsey: Well what are all those poor little kids going to do without their candy? (Sarcastically)
(Lily and Maggie laugh.)
Sara: Well they can go to someone else’s house, this is my candy. (Pointing to herself and putting the lollipop back in her mouth)
(Lily and Maggie shake their heads, grinning and Lindsey laughs.)
Maggie: This is so boring (kicking a rock)
Lily: I know. Halloween isn’t fun any more. No one gives us as much candy as they use too. Unless your Sara, who stole it from her mom.
Sara: It’s not like she needed, hardly anyone goes to my house anyways so it doesn’t matter.
Lindsey: Yeah, you think that Sara. If you guys are still bored, then I have an idea.
Maggie: What?
Lindsey: We could play truth or dare?
Lily: In the middle of road?
Lindsey: No, Lily, not in the middle of the road. I know a place, but I’m not going to tell you, you have to follow me.
Sara: (Chewing gum) I thought we were playing truth or dare, not follow the leader.
Maggie: We are playing truth or dare.
Sara: But we’re playing follow the leader first, right?
Maggie: Yes, Sara! (Rolling eyes)
Sara: Okay, gotcha… (Stops walking) I want to be the leader! (Running to catch up with Lindsey)
Lindsey: You can be leader next time.
Sara: fine then (Pouting), I doubt it though; you’re always the leader. (Muttering)
SCENCE TWO:
(The girls arrive at a big, black brick, 1800’s Mansion and the game begins.)
Lindsey: Okay, Lily, truth or dare?
Lily: Truth
Lindsey: (Pouting) Why won’t you pick dare, Lily? Are you really scared?
Lily: No…okay, make it dare then.
Lindsey: Okay, good, (Grinning) I dare you to go into that house. (Pointing to the mansion)
(Lindsey’s phone starts ringing to the tune of glamorous)
Lindsey: (Speaking into the phone) Hello? Yeah, okay, can I call you back? Okay, bye. Love you too, okay, good-bye mom, MOM! GOOD-BYE! (Snaps phone shut) Okay, come on Lil, go in.
Lily glacnes up at the Manison unsure, then glacnes back at Lindsey who smirks at her.
Lily: Um, uh… (Glacnes back up at the house)
Lindsey: What’s the matter Lily, are you chicken? (Smirking)
Lily: No, I’m not chicken, I’ll go in right now. (Stars walking towards the house, slowly)
Lindsey: (Sighing and frowning) They have ghosts you know. (Calling out to Lily)
(The girls all watch as Lily makes it half way up the driveway and starts to jog back).
Maggie: What’s wrong?
Lily: (Out of breath from running) I-thought-I-saw-a-ghost!
Lindsey: (Sighing and rolling her eyes) Oh come on, Lily, I just said that to prove you were a chicken. Their’s no such things as ghosts!
Lily: Yes there is, and I saw one.
Lindsey: (Sighing) Okay, maggie, you go in.
Maggie: (Looks at Lindsey like she’s crazy) Um, no, that’s okay, I’ll stay here with Lil.
Lindsey: (Sighing) Okay, Sara, you go in.
Sara: (eating a piece of candy) No way, are you insane? I’m a bigger frady cat then Lily.
Lily: I’m not a frady cat! I thought I saw a ghost!
Sara: There’s no such things as ghost! (In a teasing way)
Lily: There is! (Folding her arms)
Lindsey: Okay, you wusses! I’ll go in!
(The girls stare at her in disbelief.)
Lindsey: if I’m not back in 5 minutes, come in and get me.
SCENCE THREE:
(Sara, Maggie, and Lily wait outside the gates of the house, talking, while they wait for lindsey to return.)
Sara: So guys, do you think she’s dead yet? (Holding a flashlight up to her chin)
Lily: No Sara, if there was anything in there, she would of scared it away before it hurt her! And stop using the flashlight your going to wear it out.
(Sara potued and put the flashlight back in her bag.)
Maggie: Yeah that’s Lindsey. If there was a ghost she’d proably say something like being invisable was so last season!
Lily: Yeah, and then the ghost would run off crying!!
(The three girls began to laugh)
Sara: Guys she’s been in there a really long time.
Lily: Yes Sara, a whole 3 minutes.
Sara: Guys seriously, I’m getting worried ‘bout her!
Maggie: Give her two more minutes
( A few moments later the trio hear a loud spin chilling scream coming from the house)
Lily: OH MY GOD! Guys was that her?
Maggie: Yeah, I think it was. Come on let’s go in there!
SCENE FOUR:
(The three girls begin to run frantically up to the mansion)
Maggie: LINDSEY? LINDSEY? CAN YOU HEAR ME?
Sara: Guys, look over here. What is it?
(Maggie and Lily walked over to where Sara was standing and they all looked down)
Maggie: I think it’s blood. (Bending down to get a closer look)
Sara: Lindsey? Where are you? (Shouting out in panic)
Lily: Maybe we should check upstairs? (Looking up at the ceiling, with tears in her eyes)
Maggie: We should, Sara get the flashlight.
Sara: Okay. (Grabs the flahlight out of her pink pillow case and switched it on)
(She shined it around the room observing the decaing walls and just as they heard a loud thud coming from up-staris the flash light went dead)
Maggie: What was that?
Lily: W-w where’d the light go?
Sara: Um I don’t know, and I um kinda wore the light out, sorry. (Looked at her two friends nervously)
SCENE FIVE:
(The three girls travel up staris without a light looking for there friend. They go into a room trying to see as much as possible.)
Sara: (In a scared voice) Okay she’s not in here, lets go.
Maggie: Suck it up Sara, Lindsey is missing we should be looking for clues!
Lily: Well arent you just little miss Nancy Drew!
Maggie: Lightin’ up Lily,Lindsey is missing we have to try and find her the best we can
Sara: Without a light!
Maggie: Sara that’s your doing.
Sara: Oh… yeah, sorry. Well what are we doing, let’s go find her.
Maggie: Yeah, come on. (Opens the door again) Let’s go.
SCENCE SIX:
(The three girls investgate the mainson, looking for clues to find their missing friend)
Lily: Guys I’m really scared.
Maggie: I know Lil, but we have to be brave right now, for Lindsey.
Lily: I know, but I`m so worried.
Lily: Guys I’m gonna go over to the next room to have a look. Okay?
Maggie: Okay. But be careful, and scream if something happens.
(Lily nods to Maggie and walks out of the room into the next one she opens her eyes wider to try and get a better look. She is not in there even two minutes when a hand with a black cotton glove on wraps around her mouth. Lily trys to scream but it’s muffled because of the hand over her mouth)
(The person who is covering Lily’s mouth whisphers into her ear and tells her to Shut-Up.)
Lily: (Speaks very low) P-p-please doesn’t hurt me.
(It leads Lily towards and the closet door and says to her don’t worry, I won’t.)
SCENE SEVEN:
(The person shoves Lily into the closet and locks the door shut. Lily begins to bang on the door trying to escape, but her two friends don’t hear her)
Sara: Do you think Lily’s okay, I mean she hasn’t said anything sicne she left, I’m getting worried.
Maggie: I’m sure she’s fine, okay. Its Lily were talking about. But since your soo worried, I’ll go check.
Sara: Okay, but don’t be long, please, I’m really scared.
(Maggie laughs)
Maggie: Okay you little chicken
(As Maggie walkes out the room she imates a chicken and starts to bock)
Sara: Stop!
Maggie: Okay! (Still laughing)
( Maggie enters the room next door)
Maggie: Hey Lil, are you here?
(The floor board somewhere in the room creeked)
Maggie: Lily? Stop! This isn’t funny! Are you even in the stupid room?
(Once again a hand with a black glove on wraps around Maggies mouth. She tries to scream but she can’t. The person un-locks the closet door and shoves her into it with Lily)
Lily: Maggie! Oh my god, thank god it’s you! What’s happening? (Grabbing onto the Maggie’s arm)
Maggie: I don’t know, but just try a stay calm, okay?
Lily: I know I’m trying, I hope Sara’s going to be okay. Maybe she’ll catch on quick and get out and get some help. Oh god who am I trying to kid, it’s Sara she cant cacth on to nothing! We’re going to die!!
Maggie: Calm down would you! We are not going to die! Now start screaming.
Lily & Maggie: HELP!! (Banging on the closet door)
(Sara is still in the other room, by herself and shestarts to get worried about her now three missing friends)
Sara: Guys? Are you still here? If this is some kind of joke then okay, now you can stop, you all proved your point I’m a chicken, you can all come out now!
Guys?
(Sara’s runs out of the room and down the long stairs. She is about 6 feet from the door when a hand wraps around her a covers her mouth)
Sara: Stop! Where are my friends, Lindsey, Lily and Maggie??
Lindsey: Oh, stop screaming you wus. It’s only me.
( Lindsey shines a flashlight up onto her face)
Sara: Oh my god! Lindsey you big meanie! (Hitting Lindsey with the back of her hand)
Lindsey: Chill out Sara, it was only a joke, now come on. I have to go free the others.
Sara: Others? What others?
Lindsey: Lily and Maggie, duh. Who else could be in this house?
(Lindsey turns around and starts to walk up the staris and Sara begins to follow)
Sara: Wait!
( Lindsey turns back around to face her friend)
Lindsey: What?
Sara: Where are they?
(Lindsey begins to laugh)
Lindsey: I locked them in the closet in the room they went to.
( She turns back and walks up the remaing steps, as Sara laughs)
Sara: Oh that’s a good place.
Lindsey: Yeah, I know!
(They enter the room where Lindsey locked them into. She halls out a sliver key and puts into the lock, she turns it slowly then pulls the door open where Lily and Maggie are)
Lindsey: Hey guys! How was that little Halloween joke?
(Lindsey smirks at the pair, still banging on the closet door and screaming for help. Then Lindsey moves to make room for them to get out)
Maggie: Lindsey you jerk! You had the both of us scared to death!
Lily: Yeah, but it was really good!
(She high fives Lindsey and they both laugh)
Maggie: Yeah I guess it was kind of cool, but please promise you won’t do anything like it again, okay? You had us convinced you were dead.
Lindsey: Okay I promise. So Sara what did you think of it?
(They all turn to look at Sara who was just standing at the door way)
Sara: I knew about the whole time.
Lily: Yeah right, Sara. You’re the biggest chicken out of all of us.
Sara: Okay, I was just glad I wasn’t first, now, can we please go? This place is still kind of scary!
Lindsey: Yeah, lets get out of here.
(The four friends walk out the front door. They stop at the gates and all turn to look back at the old mansion, and they could all swear they saw a ghostly figure walk past the top window. They all stare at one another and begin to run down the long path.)
Sara: So much for me beinging the only chicken! |
